Nissan Gravite launched in India, as a bolder alternative to the Renault Triber facelift

The Japanese automaker, Nissan returns to the fold of MPVs after years of absence from the segment since the Nissan Evalia. The new Nissan Gravite is launched in India at an introductory starting price of ₹5.65 lakh, to sit alongside its French cousin, the Renault Triber facelift. The Gravite, despite being based on the said Renault offering, receives its own persona with prominent sculpting on the bonnet that’s complemented by an imposingly large grille with hexagonal perforations. It carries over the same 1-litre, NA petrol unit deployed in its French counterpart. This new Nissan offering is available across five variants – Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and a Limited Launch Edition. First 5000 stand to avail launch benefits like special introductory pricing and 5 years of free maintenance alongside other loyalty incentives. Here’s a brief rundown of what all it brings to the Indian roads.

2026 Nissan Gravite design

The Gravite’s exterior features a large front grille with hexagonal vents, finished in piano black. It also sports Nissan’s signature C-shaped elements in contrasting grey colour on the front and the rear, with chunky cladding on the wheel arches that are filled out by 15-inch wheels. There are five paint colours such as Forest Green which Nissan claims is inspired by the Nissan Patrol (Jonga), Onyx Black, Metallic Grey, Blade Silver and Storm White.

The cabin of the Nissan Gravite features dual-tone upholstery and a leather wrapped steering wheel with tactile buttons for various vehicle functions such as music, calls on the left and cruise control on the right hand side. It has a fully-digital gauge cluster and an 8-inch central infotainment screen, capable of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The system also features a slew of capacitive and tactile hot-keys for ease of operation for the occupants on the move. The automatic AC unit also gets physical knobs for a fuss-free user experience. There’s also a centrally placed engine start/stop button and a wireless phone charging pad tucked below it. Nissan’s new MPV boasts of offering over 150 seating configurations utilising its three-row layout to maximum potential.

2026 Nissan Gravite Limited Launch Edition

Nissan India has also introduced a fully-kitted out, Limited Launch Edition variant of the Gravite, which is limited to just 1001 units. It gets extras such as red pinstriping on the contrasting Nissan C-shaped exterior trims, along with a unique decal application on the rear quarter panel. The cabin gets JBL branded speakers, an air purifier, cooled storage spaces (central armrest; glovebox) and ambient lighting. It also packs additional neck and lumbar support protrusions to provide greater cabin comfort.

The Gravite utilises the familiar 1-litre, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine from the Triber. It churns a peak output of 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. Again, like its French contemporary, it also has an option of a 5-speed manual ’box and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

The Gravite has been launched at an introductory starting price of ₹5.65 lakh (ex-showroom), which undercuts its very similar competitor in the Renault Triber facelift, prices for which start from ₹5.76 lakh and can also be a more aggressively priced alternative to Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, priced from ₹8.80 lakh (all-prices are ex-showroom). The event also hinted at the arrival of a twin-cylinder CNG variant of the Gravite, the Nissan Tekton (based on the 2026 Renault Duster) as well as a new 7-seater SUV model.
