Porsche Cayenne Electric makes India debut
Porsche’s electric SUV will be available in two performance-based trims in India
Porsche has unveiled the Cayenne Electric and Turbo Electric for the Indian market with prices beginning from ₹1.77 crore for the Electric and ₹2.27 crore for the Turbo Electric. The main difference between the trims is based on performance, with the Turbo Electric giving higher power output. Here is a detailed overview of the Cayenne Electric and Turbo Electric.
Porsche Cayenne Electric powertrains and range
The Porsche Cayenne Electric is powered by a Porsche E-Performance powertrain with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front and rear axles. The battery has a gross capacity of 113kWh, delivering 397bhp and 835Nm. But using Overboost Power, the same motor delivers 430bhp. Porsche claims a 0 to 100kmph in 4.8 seconds (with Launch Control). Furthermore, the manufacturer also claims a recharged range of 642 kilometres for the Cayenne Electric and 623 for the Turbo Electric.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric delivers more power, with the 113kWh powertrain producing a whopping 833bhp and 1,500Nm. With Overboost Power, the delivery goes up to 1124bhp, and owing to this, the 0 to 100kmph acceleration time is claimed to be just 2.5 seconds in the Turbo Electric. But this also comes at a cost, as the recharged range (10 minutes with maximum DC charging power) goes down to 284 – 315 km, as claimed by Porsche. The Turbo Electric also features a Sport Chrono Package with Push-to-Pass and Track Endurance Mode.

Both the Cayenne Electric and the Turbo Electric have a 3,023mm wheelbase, with a 4,985mm length and 1,980mm width. Equipped with an air suspension, the standard height is 1,674 mm. It also features a sliding panoramic roof, giving a two-panel glass sunroof. In the Cayenne Electric, the ‘Porsche’ lettering can be seen on the taillight strip, and the same is finished in Turbonite in the Turbo Electric. The latter also features ‘Turbo’ lettering on the back and on the sides, again, finished in Turbonite. Both trims feature adaptive cooling air intake flaps on the front, which adjust automatically to optimise cooling. Meanwhile, the Turbo Electric trim also features active Aeroblades at the back that extend at high speeds. Porsche claims a drag coefficient of 0.25. The Cayenne Electric features 20-inch Cayenne Aero wheels and Matrix LED headlights; meanwhile, the Turbo Electric features 21-inch Cayenne Turbo Aero Wheels and HD-Matrix LED headlights.

The interior of the Porsche Cayenne Electric features fabric roof lining, stainless steel paddles, and extended ambient lighting. It also has 76 LEDs in the windshield base and the door panels, which give the driver functional feedback in the peripheral vision. It features 8-way electric comfort seats in the front with electric rear (2+1) seats in the back. The interior trim is finished in Lasershade. The steering wheel is a multifunction wheel in leather with heating available, and features Mode-Switch. Meanwhile, the Turbo Electric features roof lining in Race-Tex with a Sport Chrono stopwatch instrument dial and Power Meter Turbonite. The adaptive sports seats in the front are 18-way electric, featuring a more sporty look, in line with the Turbo Electric’s sport approach. It also features a GT steering wheel in leather with a 12 o’clock marking.

The Mode-Switch in both trims offers four modes: Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, Comfort, and Offroad. However, the Sport Plus mode in the Cayenne Electric is only available with the Sport Chrono Package.
Porsche Cayenne Electric features
The Cayenne Electric’s Sound Package Plus features a 10-speaker system with a 150 watts output and a smartphone compartment, including 25W wireless charging.
The Turbo Electric, meanwhile, features a Bose Surround Sound system with 14 speakers, including a subwoofer, with a total output increased to 710 watts.
The assistance systems on both the Porsche Cayenne and the Cayenne Electric are standard, including ParkAssist with 2D Surround View, with four cameras giving a 360-degree view. It also features Lane Change Assist, Intersection Assist, Warn and Brake Assist, Swerve and Turn Assist, and Speed Limit Assist.
