Range Rover Sport Electric bookings open in India
The Range Rover Sport's gone electric, promises 609km WLTP range and is driven via a dual-motor setup
The Range Rover Sport Electric is finally available to order in the Indian market. It packs a 118.5kWh battery which delivers 609km WLTP range and can provide 220km of range in 10 minutes thanks to the 800V electric architecture. Range Rover claims that its Sport Electric is torsionally stiffer and has a lower centre of gravity than its ICE derivatives. It has undergone rigorous testing at Italy’s marble quarries.
Range Rover Sport Electric design
The aesthetics of the Sport Electric remain faithful to the already eye-catching and contemporary ICE model. However, the EV gets an aero-optimised grille and alloy wheels. The Range Rover Sport Electric First Edition is fashioned in Zadar Grey with a satin wrap and a contrasting coloured roof in black, rolls on 22-inch wheels. Range Rover says the car also gets a distinct sound signature which is meant to elevate the driving experience.
Range Rover Sport Electric performance, battery and range
It’s driven by dual motors, each rated for 349bhp (260kW). AWD and all-wheel steering is offered as standard equipment. The Sport Electric is rated for a peak output of 542bhp, which is equivalent to the V8-powered Range Rover Sport (P540) and 850Nm of torque is greater than its ICE counterpart. It does the 0-100kmph sprint in a claimed 4.5 seconds. Additionally, this EV can wade through 900mm of water and run up a 45-degree incline without breaking a sweat. It also has dynamic air suspension with electronic roll control which can simulate 1400Nm of force between both axles to ensure a comfortable and consistent ride quality. Working in tandem is a set of clever twin-valve dampers – capable of making adjustments on 100 parameters and calibrating itself 500 times per second. All of which translates into tighter body control by keeping pitch and roll under cornering and breaking scenarios.
