Renault unveils the Bridger Concept, a glimpse of its global sub-4 metre SUV
The Renault Bridger SUV will make its global debut from its India launch in 2027
Renault's upcoming sub-4 metre SUV will make its global debut in India in 2027This sub-4 metre SUV concept is Renault’s newest SUV for India. The Renault Bridger is being largely designed in India, and may see exports to certain relevant countries in succeeding years. Despite its compact footprint, it is said to get more than ample space on the inside, particularly in the rear seat with a knee-room of 200mm, which is class-leading by today’s standards. It also packs a rear cargo storage space of 400 litres.
Aimed as an urban SUV with practicality for most urban requirements, the Bridger is being planned with a ground clearance of 200mm, that’s only 12mm lesser than the Duster. It carries a rather sharp and striking aesthetic from its boxy form, which exudes an innate sense of ruggedness. Adding to that is a tailgate mounted spare wheel. The concept has been showcased donning a ‘Beige Dune Satin’ paint and 18-inch alloy wheels.
As for its bones, it has been developed on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP). Renault’s plans to make it a multi-energy solution for India and the rest of the world is already underway. It will be offered in a combustion engine, hybrid and electric powertrains. Of course, the availability of a particular power unit will be subject to the specific market’s needs. At present, the Bridger’s launch in India is slated towards the end of 2027.
Globally, Renault plans to launch 26 new models over the course of the next four years. Of these, four new products will be designed and assembled in India. We can speculate these cars to be the Duster, Bigster (7-seater Duster), and Bridger. We will have to wait to find out what the fourth model would be. Also, the brand is still planning to go 100 per cent electric by 2030 in Europe. In international markets, they are planning for a 50:50 ratio between electric and hybrid powertrains.
