Tata Aeris launched in India starting at ₹5.29 lakh

Tata has launched the Aeris, replacing the Tigor in its compact sedan segment. Prices for the petrol variant start at ₹5.29 lakh, and the iCNG variant starts at ₹6.29 lakh. Based on the X-ALFA Architecture, the Aeris gets a stronger structure and is loaded with safety and infotainment features, including a 360-degree camera, integrated dash recording (for the last 30 minutes), wireless charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Tata Aeris design

At its face, the Tata Aeris has an uncanny resemblance to the Tata Tigor. However, small changes, including a lifted bonnet line, squared stance, and tail lamps, keep it just about different. Tata also boasts a higher ground clearance, owing to the X-ALFA Architecture.

Meanwhile, the signature DRLs and diamond-cut aero alloy wheels also add to its overall exterior design. It also features a dual-tone black roof and chrome-line door handles.

Tata Aeris features

The cabin of the Aeris features ventilated leatherette seats, adding to the comfort of the passenger and the driver. Moreover, the dashboard is paired with two displays: a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 5-inch digital island cluster. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also available, integrated within the Tata Aeris with a dual smartphone deck, which features wireless charging. There’s also automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and Type-C 65W fast charging ports. Moreover, the Tata Aeris also has 419 litres of usable boot space owing to the twin-tank setup for the CNG variants, which brings us to the powertrain.

Tata Aeris powertrains

The Tata Aeris will feature both a petrol and an iCNG variant. The 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine produces 84.8bhp and 113Nm. The i-CNG powertrain produces 74.4 bhp and 96.5Nm output. The dual CNG tanks have a total 70-litre capacity. The petrol variant is available in both manual and automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the CNG variant comes with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Tata has shifted away from its traditional shift lever to a knob, and the steering wheel now features paddle shifters to compensate for the same. It also features a direct CNG start, skipping the switch from petrol to CNG.

Tata Aeris safety features

Tata boasts of the Aeris’ safety features, which make use of ultra-high-strength steel. Six airbags are standard on all the variants, with Electronic Stability Program, ABS with EBD & CSC, Hill Hold Control, and ISOFIX anchors.

For enhanced driver awareness, the Aeris features a blind view monitor, a MultiView digital video recorder, a 360-degree camera with auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and a rear defogger. Other crash-avoidance features include rollover mitigation and torque vectoring by braking. For added safety in the iCNG variants, the Aeris has safeguards including leak detection, advanced leak-proof materials, thermal incident protection, and rear crash protection.

Tata Aeris price

While at its face, the Tata Aeris does look a lot like the Tigor, the overall features and little tweaks in the design make all the difference. The pricing of the Aeris begins at ₹5.29 lakh, with the i-CNG variants beginning at ₹6.29 lakh. The ex-showroom prices for the petrol and i-CNG go up to ₹8.74 lakh and ₹9.74 lakh, respectively.
