Tesla Model Y “Switch and Save” Carnival brings down ownership costs to ₹19,990 a month
Tesla’s Switch and Save Carnival lowers the effective price of owning its cars

Tesla has found a clever way to talk about price, which is to talk about what you stop paying. From 23rd to 25th October 2026, Tesla is running its Switch and Save Carnival at Tesla Experience Centres across India, between 11 AM and 8 PM, with Tesla Model Y ownership starting at an effective ₹19,990 a month. It is aimed squarely at buyers eyeing mid-segment cars from around ₹20 lakh, and the idea is simple: compare the Tesla Model Y and the six-seater Model Y L, decide and drive away.
Tesla Model Y ownership cost breakdown
The numbers start with a ₹6 lakh down payment, after which the monthly payment begins at ₹39,990. Tesla says that is already in line with a well-equipped petrol SUV, but it argues the real comparison comes after that, because switching from petrol or diesel removes fuel, oil changes, scheduled servicing and brake wear from your monthly bill. Tesla estimates that this saves ₹20,000 a month, which brings the effective cost of owning a Tesla Model Y down to ₹19,990. The company also points to near-zero maintenance, with no oil changes, no spark plugs and no multi-speed transmission servicing, while regenerative braking takes wear off the brake pads and over-the-air updates add features without a dealer visit.
Tesla Model Y Carnival offers
Tesla claims Switch and Save Carnival targets aspirational buyers who are currently looking at mid-segment cars from around ₹20 lakh, and the pitch is that a premium SUV can cost less per month than they might expect. The sweet spot is a petrol or diesel owner who is tired of fuel and servicing bills, since that is exactly where Tesla says the ₹20,000 monthly saving comes from. The six-seater Model Y L also gives larger families something to compare, and with exchange offers, on-the-spot finance and a free Wall Connector on the table, Tesla is clearly trying to make the decision happen in a single visit. Visitors can compare the Tesla Model Y and Model Y L, get an on-the-spot exchange offer and arrange finance with Tesla’s preferred banking partners on the premises. Every car bought during the carnival also comes with a complimentary Tesla Wall Connector, which takes care of home charging from day one.
The effective ₹19,990 a month is not the EMI itself, so it is worth reading the fine print. The ₹39,990 monthly payment is indicative and subject to financier approval, and it is based on a 7-year tenure at 8.5 per cent APR under a step-up EMI plan. Tesla’s savings assume a Model Y consumption of 14.3 kWh per 100 km, a comparison car that does 8 km per litre, electricity at ₹7 per kWh and servicing at ₹2 per km. Test drives of the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear Wheel Drive and the Model Y L can be booked on Tesla’s official website or their Experience centres around the country.
