Toyota's new Corolla Concept unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show 2025

Toyota has revealed a new Corolla Concept at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, and it’s noticeably different from the current model. The design puts a focus on sharp lines, large glass panels, and advanced lighting, moving away from the conservative styling that previous Corollas were known for.

Up front, the concept has a full-width LED light bar and segmented lighting, with additional vertical lights that give the car a wider and more modern appearance. The front windshield is steeply raked and stretches a long way back, hinting at a very open and airy cabin experience. The window line kinks up towards the rear, and the roof has a coupe-like slope finishing with a small ducktail spoiler. At the back, the car features another LED light bar and bold shoulders, keeping the look sporty but clean.

Inside, the approach is even more minimalistic. Instead of a large central touchscreen, many controls are moved behind the steering wheel, next to a digital driver’s display. There is a standalone screen for climate controls on a floating center console, which opens up storage space between the seats. This setup also suggests the concept might be an EV, but Toyota has said the next-gen Corolla will be available with full electric, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid, and traditional engine options.

Koji Sato, Toyota President and CEO, touched upon certain points on the brand during the Japan Mobility Show presentation, stating, “Wanting to drive a car that looks cool. I think that many of us share the same desire, whether it’s a battery EV, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, or internal combustion engine vehicle, whatever the power source, let’s make good-looking cars that everyone will want to drive. The car is packed with inventions aimed at making that a reality”.

No detailed technical specs have been shared yet, but the company says it wants to build models that look appealing and cater to various powertrains for different customer needs globally.
