Toyota unveils Urban SUV Concept EV and Sport Crossover Concept EV

Toyota has unveiled the Urban SUV EV Concept, which is based on the Maruti Suzuki eVX. It has also unveiled the Sport Crossover Concept EV, which has a coupe-like design.

Talking about the design, the Urban SUV Concept has LED DRLs on the headlights and two LED strips on the front bumper. It also gets integrated taillights and the rear-door handles are placed on the C-pillar. The Sport Crossover Concept EV, on the other hand, features C-shaped LED DRLs and taillights. It has a coupe-like design with a sloping roofline and looks that are more aggressive than the Urban SUV. In comparison, the Sport Crossover does not have the LED strips on the bumper and gets a different set of DRLs and taillight units. The rear door handles are placed in the traditional position instead of the C-pillar.

The concept cars feature a camera-based system instead of ORVMs. They also get a dual-battery setup that Toyota says will help the customer switch batteries according to their needs and preferences. The production model will be offered with both FWD and AWD drivetrain options. The dimensions of the Urban SUV Concept are comparable to those of the MG ZS EV and it measures 4300mm x 1820mm x 1620mm. The dimensions of the Sport Crossover Concept have not been revealed, but it looks bigger than its SUV counterpart.

The Urban SUV Concept is going to debut globally in 2024 and we can expect the car to launch sometime later in India. However, nothing has been said about the launch of the coupe. These two EVs are among the six EVs that Toyota plans to introduce globally by 2026. This unveil falls in line with Toyota’s goal of selling only ZEVs by 2035 and achieving complete carbon neutrality by 2040.
