The last third row car Volkswagen had was the Tiguan All-Space, which was discounted in November 2021. Enter the Tayron, their new three-row SUV that's locally-assembled right here at VW’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant, igniting excitement for family-oriented enthusiasts who crave real driving thrills.

The Tayron's profile shines with an extended roofline sloping gently rearward, subtle headlight tweaks, and bumper updates over the Tiguan R-Line. The extended length at 4792mm, now brings the third row. It sports the 255/45 R19 tyres, same as the VW Tiguan R-Line.

On the inside you get soft-touch dash materials, suede accents, and robust German build quality. Ergonomics are spot-on with physical buttons in easy reach. A massive 15-inch infotainment screen rules, volume/temp via touch sliders, plus quick shortcuts to disable driver aids. Pair it with a crisp 10.25-inch digital cluster and HUD. Front seats? 12-way electric with lumbar, memory, ventilation, and massage, accessed via that screen. One multi-function dial handles volume or drive modes.

Under the hood, the familiar EA888 evo4 churns out 201bhp and 320Nm, mated to a 7-speed DSG. It shares the ultra-modular MQB Evo platform with the Tiguan, Kodiaq, and even Golf GTI. Claimed 0-100kmph? 7.3 seconds. No Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) like the Tiguan.

VW Tayron R-Line rivals

Priced competitively as a CKD build at ₹46.99 lakh ex-showroom, Tayron takes aim at Jeep Meridian(₹23.33 lakh - ₹37.82 lakh ex-showroom), Toyota Fortuner (₹34.16 lakh - ₹49.59 lakh ex-showroom), MG Gloster (₹38.33 lakh - ₹46.24 lakh ex-showroom), and also the recently unveiled MG Majestor (price TBA). VW's own Tiguan R-Line is priced at ₹45.73 lakh ex-showroom, because it is a CBU import. Tayron delivers more space, similar punch, and India-made value.
