Ducati reveals the Diavel 1260 range for 2021

The line-up includes the Euro5 compliant Diavel 1260, the Diavel 1260 S and the super exclusive Diavel 1260 Lamborghini, which will be restricted to 630 examples worldwide

Ducati has showcased the updated Diavel 1260 range, along with a special edition made in collaboration with Lamborghini, the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini. The MY2021 Diavels have been updated to meet the more stringent Euro5 emission norms.

The web event saw the launch of three models, namely, the Diavel 1260, the Diavel 1260 S and the exclusive (limited to 630 units) Diavel 1260 Lamborghini. While the standard 1260 and the 1260 S come with minor Euro 5 updates, the Lamborghini edition sports a custom design which is based mechanically on the 1260 S with several design cues from the stunning Lamborghini Siàn FKP 37.

The Design:

The Standard 1260 and the 1260 S continue to have the same design and styling of the existing Diavel. The standard variant is available in the Dark Stealth colour scheme, while the S variant can be had in the ‘Ducati Red’ or the ‘Total Black’ colour scheme. The Diavel 1260 Lamborghini, on the other hand, is a custom design, starting with a new livery and forged wheels, redesigned exhaust, exposed golden frame, carbon fibre air intakes, radiator cover and red brake callipers which have all been inspired by the Lamborghini Siàn FKP 37.

The paint scheme used in the livery dubbed ‘Gea Green’ is in fact, the very same one used on the car. The number 63 is also a part of the livery which is done to pay homage to the founding year of the car manufacturer. Which is also why only 630 examples of the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini will be available worldwide.

The Engine:

Powering all three variants is the same Testastretta DVT 1262cc 90-degree L-Twin mill that is now Euro5 compliant. The engine is good for 159.5bhp at 9500rpm and 129Nm of torque at 7500rpm, meaning Ducati has managed to meet the emission norms without the loss of any power and also gained torque in the process.

Chassis:

Braking duties on the standard Diavel 1260 are handled by dual radially mounted Brembo M4.32 monobloc callipers chomping on 320mm discs up front. The S variant and the Lamborghini edition both get the more superior Brembo M50 monobloc callipers. The rear 2-piston Brembo floating calliper and 265mm disc are the same on all three variants. The bikes come with cornering ABS as standard. The suspension set up for the standard variant comprises of adjustable Marzocchi 50mm front USD forks and preload and rebound adjustable rear monoshock. The Diavel 1260 S and the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini on the other hand are equipped with fully adjustable 48mm Öhlins pogos up front and a fully adjustable Öhlins monoshock at the rear. The standard Diavel 1260 weighs in at 249kg wet while the Diavel 1260 S weighs in at 247kg wet. The Lamborghini edition loses an extra kilo over the S variant weighing in at 246kg wet, courtesy extra carbon fibre goodies.

Electronics and Rider aids:

As standard, all variants in the Diavel 1260 family get Riding Modes, Power Modes, Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, full-LED lighting system, Ducati Power Launch, cruise control, hands-free, backlit handlebar switches, 3.5" TFT colour display. Apart from this the S and the Lamborghini edition get the quick-shifter, Bluetooth connectivity and DRLs.

Pricing and Availability:

We can expect Ducati to launch the updated Diavels in India in the first half of 2021 with a slight bump in pricing. As to whether any of the 630 examples of the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini will make it to India, that remains to be seen.
