EICMA 2019: Triumph showcases Thruxton RS, Bobber TFC, T100 and T120 Bud Ekins special editions

Top-of-the-line Thruxton gets even more power while the Bobber TFC gets a lot of sporty goodies. Read all about Triumph’s new motorcycles showcased at EICMA 2019

Triumph Motorcycles has revealed its 2020 lineup at EICMA which includes the Thruxton RS, Bonneville Bobber TFC and Bud Ekins T100 and T120 special editions. Triumph also revealed its electric bike project’s name at the event, being titled as Project Triumph TE-1 for now under which a new series of electric motorcycles will be developed.

Speaking about the Thruxton RS which highlighted Triumph’s display at EICMA 2019; Triumph has lent it even more sporty components, starting with an overhauled parallel-twin engine in High Power state of tune. Power is up by 8bhp and while 112Nm of torque is delivered lower in the range. It also gets adjustable Showa BPFs and fully adjustable twin shocks by Ohlins at the rear. Triumph has also given it Brembo M50s and Metzeler Racetec RR tyres making it fully ready for the race track. In terms of aesthetics, the RS variant gets all blacked-out panels and twin-paint scheme. The RS will sit at the top of the Thruxton and will be launched in India sometime next year.

Bobber TFC

Triumph also revealed the TFC (Triumph Factory Custom) edition of the Bonneville Bobber which is limited to a run of 750 units. Each bike will be sold with a unique badging and numbered edition plaque. In terms of mechanical changes, the TFC gets 10bhp extra at 86bhp while the torque is higher too 4Nm. The bike is expected to be lighter by 5kg approximately although it hasn’t been homologated yet. It also gets Ohlins fully adjustable forks and Brembo M50s with MCS lever. Triumph has equipped it with minor carbonfibre bits too to make it look sportier.

Bud Ekins T100 and T120

Special editions of the T100 and T120 were showcased too, paying homage to Bud Ekins. Bud was a professional Hollywood stuntman, top motocross and desert racer, and the rider who made arguably the most famous motorcycle film jump in history in the WWII film The Great Escape on behalf Steve McQueen. These two special editions feature a one-off Californian inspired Bud Ekins paint scheme and a range of dedicated details, which include a California ‘flying bud’ logo on the tank and Monza fuel filler cap. Each bike will also be sold with a unique certificate that also reiterates Bud’s epic story.

We expect the special editions to be brought to India in 2020 as well.
