BMW has launched the all-new fourth generation X5 in India with a price tag starting from Rs 72.9 lakh. It will be available in two diesel variants: the xDrive 30d Sport at Rs 72.9 lakh and the xDrive 30d xLine at Rs 82.4 lakh, and one petrol variant, xDrive 40i M Sport, also at Rs 82.4 lakh. BMW has given the all-new X5 a host of essential upgrades over its predecessor, making it bigger and more luxurious. The all-new BMW X5 diesel variant is available at BMW dealerships from today onwards. The petrol variant will be available later this year

Under the hood

BMW has given the all-new  X5 a 3.0-litre six-cylinder four-valve diesel engine producing 265bhp at 4000rpm and 620Nm available from 1500-2500rpm. There is also a 3.0-litre petrol engine that makes 340bhp at 5500-6500rpm and 450Nm from 1500-5200rpm. The SUV sprints to 100kmph from a standstill in 6.5 seconds for the diesel and 5.5 seconds for the petrol!

Exterior design

From the front, there’s no mistaking this for anything other than a BMW, even though the trademark corona-ring DRLs are now L shaped and have LED cornering lights with the optional BMW laser lights and adaptive headlights. Not only the distinct kidney grille, everything on this car is massive. The rear, though, is significantly different from BMW’s design. The LED fog lamps and tail lamps also have a 3D wrap around them which looks very cool and would soon be seen in all the new Bimmers.
