The Honda City and the Honda City e:HEV receive a facelift to keep things fresh

Honda has given the fifth generation of its Honda City a facelift and the update includes both the petrol and the hybrid City e:HEV model. Prices for the facelifted model start from Rs 11.49 lakh and here’s what the City facelift gets.

Honda City facelift design

This is not the most comprehensive of facelifts but Honda has done a fair bit to keep the fifth generation of the Honda City looking fresh. For starters, the front grille has been revised and the front and rear bumpers have been reprofiled as well, now sporting a new lower moulding and fog lamp garnish. The boot now gets a new body-coloured spoiler and the 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels now get a design. The Obisidian Blue Pearl colour scheme is also new.

On the inside, the cabin of the facelifted Honda City gets a dual-tone beige and black colour scheme on the petrol variants while you get an ivory and black colour scheme on the e:HEV hybrid variant. The infotainment system is the same but Honda has improved the features list by now providing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto unlike the earlier wired version. You also get an improved rear camera, wireless charging, automatic wipers with rain-sensing and ambient lighting. In addition to all this kit, the petrol City now gets the ADAS functions previously only on the hybrid.

Honda City facelift engine

Powering the facelifted Honda City are the same engines as before. The petrol-powered City gets 1.5-litre nat-asp iVTEC petrol with dual overhead cams and this engine produces 119bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. The City e:HEV hybrid on the other hand continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that runs on the Atkinson cycle and works in tandem with two electric motors. The system produces a combined output of 124bhp and it mated to an e-CVT transmission. Both powertrains are complaint with the RDE and E20 emission norms.
