Kush Maini joins the Mahindra Racing Formula E team as a reserve driver

Mahindra Racing has signed Indian Formula 2 racer Kush Maini as its reserve driver for season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Maini replaces fellow Indian racer Jehan Daruvala, who has landed a Formula E seat with the Maserati MSG Racing team for 2024.

As a member of Mahindra Racing, Maini will collaborate with the team's race drivers, Edoardo Mortara and Nyck de Vries, as well as fellow reserve driver Jordan King. Maini's role will include simulator sessions, team support at select e-Prix events, and opportunities to test the M10Electro race car.

The 23-year-old Indian driver has proved his mettle behind the wheel across several FIA single-seater competitions over the last seven years of his career. Maini began his career in 2016 with the Italian F4, progressing to the British Formula 3, the Formula Renault Eurocup, and the FIA Formula 3. He currently competes in Formula 2 and earned his first podium finish earlier this year in Melbourne, Australia. He is currently ranked 11th in the championship standings with 60 points and 11 point-scoring finishes this season.

Kush Maini's move to Mahindra Racing is the latest in a string of significant deals completed in the last three months. The Bengaluru-based racer announced that he would be mentored by two-time Formula One champion Mika Hakkinen in October. Following that, he joined the Alpine Academy as a junior driver. This recent announcement coincides with the FIA's confirmation that Formula E will return to Hyderabad in Season 10 of the championship.
