Land Rover Defender Octa Black unveiled
The Land Rover Defender Octa Black gets even more appealing with its blacked-out appearance

Similar to the recently unveiled Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition, the Land Rover Defender Octa now features an all-black aesthetic in the form of the Defender Octa Black. The 4x4 SUV continues to be powered by 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and is now more menacing in terms of its appearance.
Land Rover Defender Octa Black styling
The standard Defender and the Defender Octa both pack in superb road presence, but the Octa Black takes this to a whole new level. With the Octa Black, as many as 30 exterior elements now receive black finishes, with the body being finished in Narvik Black. The Narvik Black is deep and dark with a gloss finish, but customers can choose to spec their Octa Black with an optional matte protective film. The Octa Black also gets a new headlight design with revised graphics and flush tail lamps with smoked lenses, in line with the design updates across the Defender line-up.

The front undershield and the rear scuff plates of the SUV get a Satin black powder coat, with the exposed recovery eyes finished in Satin black. Meanwhile, the tow eye cover at the front and the quad exhaust tips at the rear are both finished in gloss black to provide a contrasting finish. The Land Rover badging on the front grille is now black, with a darkened silver script, and even the underbody elements feature a gloss or satin black finish. The Octa Black can be had with 20-inch forged wheels or 22-inch gloss black wheels with black centre caps. The brake callipers are also finished in gloss black.

Land Rover Defender Octa Black interior
The Octa Black’s interior gets Ebony Semi-Aniline leather upholstery, introduced to the Defender for the first time, and the SUV is equipped with Performance Seats. You get unique perforation patterns on the seats, with new stitching detail on the backrests, while the seat backs and armrest hinges are finished in Carpathian Grey. The dashboard features a cross car beam finished in a satin black powder coat, with a chopped carbon fibre finish being available as an option. Also present on the Octa Black is a 13.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment. This SUV is also equipped with ‘Body and Soul Seats’ (BASS), which allow those sitting in the Performance Seats up front to feel the music that they are listening to. The seats utilise audio signals from the 700W, 15-speaker Meridian surround sound system and this high fidelity vibro-acoustic tech incorporates the same AI optimising software used by the world’s top recording artists and composers.
Land Rover Defender Octa Black engine
Powering the Defender Octa Black is a mild-hybrid powertrain that includes a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine producing 626bhp of power. The Octa Black is also equipped with the 6D Dynamics suspension and a dedicated Octa mode that is perfect for performance off-road use, as we have already mentioned in our first drive review of the standard Defender Octa.

It is likely that the Defender Octa Black will be making its way to India soon
The Octa Black joins the standard Octa as a part of the Defender line-up, and the latter is now available in two new colour schemes – Sargasso Blue and Borasco Grey, offered in addition to the existing Charente Grey and Petra Copper paint schemes. The standard Defender Octa will also be available with a Patagonia White Matte wrap from late 2025. Coming back to the Octa Black, Land Rover has not made an official announcement yet on whether the SUV will be making its way to our shores, but given our market’s appetite for blacked-out SUVs and the popularity of the Defender, it is likely that the SUV will be making its way to India soon.
