Locally manufactured Range Rover Velar priced Rs 72.47 lakh
Strengthening its focus on localization, Jaguar Land Rover India has announced that the Range Rover Velar will now be manufactured locally. The locally made SUV starts at Rs 72.47 lakh, ex-showroom, India. Bookings have already begun for the Velar, and deliveries will start next month.

Powering the Range Rover Velar
The SUV is offered in two powertrain options, a 2.0-litre diesel and 3.0-litre petrol. The diesel motor produces 177bhp and 430Nm of torque, making it spur to a ton in 8.7 seconds, and achieving a top speed of 201kmph. The more powerful 3.0-litre turbo petrol unit produces 297bhp and a mammoth 700Nm of torque. This makes the two tonne SUV accelerate to 100kmph in just 6.7 seconds with a capable top speed of 241kmph.
Being a Land Rover, off-road capabilities are unquestionable and the Velar features an all-wheel-drive system and air suspension all round. The ground clearance is massive at 251mm and water wading depth stands at a class-leading 650mm. Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 and All-Terrain Progress Control are offered as standard. The Velar is high on safety features too and comes with six airbags and a wide suite of driver assistance systems including Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist and an Adaptive Speed Limiter.

When launched the Range Rover Velar started at Rs 78.83 lakh going all the up to Rs 1.37 Crore. With localisation, the SUV is now cheaper by more than Rs 6 lakh.
