Maruti Suzuki Alto facelift launched at Rs 2.93 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi

Maruti Suzuki India limited has launched the Alto facelift at Rs 2.93 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Alto has been one of the best selling cars in India for the past 15 years and now it has been launched with a redesigned front fascia and complies with all the new safety regulations. It also gets a BS VI compliant engine.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto facelift gets important safety features

The new Alto gets a slightly redesigned front bumper and a larger grille. The pronounced wheel arches that were there in the earlier car are no longer present in the new one. The main highlight however in the new Alto is the fact that it complies with the new safety regulations. It gets ABS, EBD, reverse parking camera, driver-side airbag, speed alert system and seat belt reminder for driver and passenger. It also complies with the upcoming crash and safety regulations.

Another significant change is the BS-VI compliant engine. Maruti Suzuki says that this reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by nearly 25%. This has been achieved by upgrading the engine hardware, software as well as the exhaust system. It pushes the bar further by meeting ELV (End of life vehicle) obligations as the updated Alto is 85% recyclable and 95% recoverable. The new WagonR was Maruti Suzuki’s first car that met with the ELV obligations and all cars in the future will follow the trend. The entry level hatch is powered by the same 796cc which makes 47bhp at 3500rpm and 69Nm of torque at 6000rpm. Being frugal and efficient is this engine’s forte rather than providing outright performance. Maruti Suzuki claims a fuel economy of 22.5kmpl for this petrol engine.
