All about the new engine from Maruti Suzuki

The new diesel engine from Maruti Suzuki offers enhanced performance, developing 92bhp. The turbocharged engine also boasts of better low end torque with the peak torque of 225Nm available at 1500-2500rpm. The company claims that the engine provides best-in-class fuel efficiency because of the use of cast aluminium cylinder head and block.

The car uses a dual mass flywheel (DMF) which, along with the optimized compression ratio reduces engine fluctuations, contributing to better NVH performance.

In the Maruti Suzuki’s newly developed six-speed transmission, the position of the reverse gear is relocated next to the first gear to ease usage during tight parking conditions.

Sharing his thoughts on the new offering, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki said “Maruti Suzuki has always re-defined the Indian auto industry with its revolutionary offerings. The all – new aluminium 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel engine is yet another testament of the same. This new engine offers an optimum balance of enhanced performance with best in class fuel efficiency. The new engine showcases our commitment to provide products that capture performance aspirations of our young customers. We are confident that introduction of this new engine will further strengthen our portfolio and help in popularity of our cars.”
