Mercedes-Benz launches the S 350 d and S 450 at Rs 1.33 crore and Rs 1.37 crore respectively

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the first BS-VI compliant car, the S Class in the country today. The S Class is offered with two variants – the S 350 d and the S 450. The S 350 d is powered by a BS-VI compliant inline six diesel engine that produces 286bhp and 600Nm of peak torque that sprints the car from 0-100kmph in 6.0 secs. It is also the most powerful diesel engine from the manufacturer in the country. The S 450 on the other hand is powered by a V6 petrol engine that develops 367bhp and 500Nm of peak torque with 0-100kmph time of 5.1 secs. Both the engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with maximum speed electronically limited to 250kmph.

The new S-Class gets radar based driving assistance systems that drives and directs the vehicle itself till 210kmph on roads with clear lane markings and till 130kmph with no lane markings, taking guidelines from other vehicles on road. The radar assists makes use of active steering assist, active braking assist and blind spot assist to maneuver the vehicle.

The car offers plethora of features that includes panoramic sunroof with an obstruction sensor with two electric roller sunblind to provide occupants shade is harsh sun, air balance package that offers the luxury to choose interior fragrance from six options to suit personal preference. The air quality in the cabin can also be improved by ionising and optimising filtering of incoming and recirculating air.
