MG Hector officially revealed before June launch

MG Hector has finally been unveiled today with two engine options 1.5-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. Bookings will begin in the first week of June and deliveries by the end of June

After all the spy shots of the test vehicles, MG unveiled the Hector ahead of its June launch and the first thing that you notice about the SUV is its sheer size. At 4,655mm, It is longer than Tata Harrier and Mahindra Xuv 500 while it isn’t as wide as the Harrier or tall as the Xuv but it has the longest wheelbase of 2,750mm amongst the three.

The Exterior

The design of the MG Hector is heavily inspired from the Baojun 530 from China but there’s a number of design retouches like the LED DRLs above the projector headlights, LED tail lamps, rear fog light, the chrome-encased, matte-finished grille, and the lines on the bonnet. The 17-inch black wheels, however, look kind of small on an SUV of this size.

Interior and features

The interior of the car is where you would be spending all your time and MG has ensured that it’s well spent with plenty of segment first features. The interior looks neat and there is a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, called the iSmart, it also features a host of connectivity features Powered by an embedded Airtel sim card, the system is 5G capable and would get OTA updates like Smartphones. Powered with Infinity speakers and subwoofer, the MG also features eight colour ambient lights

There’s faux leather on the electronically adjustable seats, dash and door panels and since this would be a five-seater in India so there’s ample room inside for front and rear passengers. There’s also plenty of room in the boot as well which is 587 litres with a one-touch to open tailgate. The Hector also features a dual-pane panoramic sunroof which MG claims is the biggest in this segment.

Safety

The safety features in the Hector include  Esp plus traction control, hill hold control, three-point seatbelt, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and rear disc brakes.

MG would begin with 120 dealers which is expected to go up to over 250 dealers by the end of the year.
