Pays homage to the first special edition launched in 2007 and only 15 units will be available, that too through online booking only
Mini India introduces the special edition for the Mini Convertible called the Sidewalk Edition. Only 15 units of this special edition will be available and they can be booked on the company’s digital retail platform only. The Sidewalk Edition will arrive in India via the CBU route and is priced at Rs 44.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Paying homage to the first special edition launched in 2007, this Sidewalk Edition will be a blend of modern and retro-themed styling.
What’s special in the Sidewalk Edition?
Based on the Mini Cooper S Convertible, the Sidewalk Edition gets a bunch of cosmetic updates. It will be available with deep Laguna metallic exterior colour paint scheme that gets a unique design pattern on the blacked-out roof. It is equipped with 17-inch scissor spoke dual-tone alloy wheels and also gets racing stripes on the bonnet and graphics on the sides.
On the inside, it gets anthracite leather seats with dark petrol lining and yellow accents with Sidewalk Edition embossed on it.
Retains the same heart
Under the hood, the Sidewalk Edition comes with the same 2-litre twin-scroll turbo-petrol engine that is mated to a seven-speed DCT auto box. The output remains identical to that of the Mini Cooper S which is 189bhp and 280Nm of torque.
Speaking about the launch of Sidewalk Edition, Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “Mini was born out of a crisis. It’s a brave and daring brand that is authentic, inventive and optimistic by nature. It brings people and communities together, offering them unique and unfiltered experiences even in the most extraordinary times. The Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition is a perfect tribute to the Mini philosophy and the challenges of the current time. Mini has once again created an unmatched combination of the legendary go-kart feeling and open-top driving experience. It celebrates a rich heritage of unfiltered excitement and driving fun. The exclusively crafted elements of this limited edition create moments of pure emotion with unbridled energy. If you're spontaneous, outgoing and like to live life unfiltered, this is the car for you.”
As for now, Mini Sidewalk Edition can be booked on the company’s digital retail website. Since Mini’s parent company BMW Group announced a hike in prices for all its ongoing models from November 2020 by three per cent you can expect the Sidewalk Edition prices also to go up if the car doesn’t go out of stock by that time.
