Next gen Maserati GranTurismo prototype teased

Maserati has shared a glimpse of the new all-electric GranTurismo in testing

The next-gen GranTurismo prototype has been shown by Maserati while testing. It features the first ever all electric powertrain from the Italian company. The prototype of the new GranTurismo EV was teased under camouflage and from what can be seen in the teased images, it displays a similar design to the older models of the GT.

The long bonnet, large intakes on the front bumper, with the iconic Maserati grille and the trident logo gives off a classy vibe even under the heavy camouflage. The headlights are sleek and vertical in shape similar to the MC20 and large wheels on the GT give it a ready to race look.

Other than the fully electric powertrain, it is speculated that the new GranTurismo will come with internal combustion engines as well, and could be the one similar to the MC20, a 3-litre twin-turbocharged V6. Although there has been no official note from Maserati. We also await official specs of the electric powertrain.

The automaker is also expected to roll out a Gran-Cabrio, which is the GranTurismo convertible, after the coupe is released next year or early 2023. Maserati has big plans in the near future, having promised as many as 13 launches (including the ICE MC20 which is already on sale globally). A Porsche Macan rival, hybrid versions of the Levante and Ghibli and a new Quattroporte are all in the pipeline. Exciting times ahead.
