Rahil Ansari relinquishes role at Audi India and moves to Audi AG

Audi India has announced some changes in their top management. Balbir Singh Dhillon who is currently the head of dealer development at Audi India will be replacing Rahil Ansari as head of Audi India, effective September 1, 2019.

Rahil Ansari who is currently the head of Audi India will become the senior director of central sales controlling (global) at Audi AG.

Audi India has been in India since 2007 and reported its peak sales in 2015 with them selling 11,192 units. But as the competition grew stiffer and ever since the Volkswagen diesel engine debacle, the flow of new models, investments and tech from Audi India has started to decline. The company managed to sell only 6,463 units last year.

According to Audi, a change in leadership and introduction of new models should help improve the company’s declining condition.

This is what Balbir Singh Dhillon, who will be heading Audi India come September 2019 said to the Times of India: “Times are challenging in India, but I am confident that we will manage to turn around the business over the coming years as new models come in and buyer confidence improves,”

Under new leadership, Audi plans to launch the A6 and A8 sedans, the Q8 SUV and the e-Tron EV.
