Skoda launches Octavia RS at Rs 24.62 lakh

True to its declaration at a gathering of select motor noters in Mumbai a few weeks ago, Skoda India has launched the Octavia RS at Rs. 24.62 lakh, ex-showroom. The performance sedan is powered by a 2.0 TSI turbo petrol engine with 227bhp and 350Nm on tap, making this the most powerful Skoda car to be sold in India. Transmission is via a 6-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox. It breaches the 100kmph mark from a standstill in just 6.8 seconds and can go on to post a top speed of an electronically limited 250kmph. This makes it the fastest Skoda to be sold in India as well.

Packed to the boot with performance equipment, the car features an XDS+ limited slip differential and sits 15mm closer to the tarmac than the regular sedan. It also gets a variable ratio steering to cope with the demands of enthusiastic driving.
