TVS Motor Company has concluded the second season of the TVS Ntorq 125 Call of Design and announced Aayush Bijalwan as the winner. A student of UPES design school (Dehradun), Aayush took home an all new TVS Ntorq 125 Race Edition along with a cash prize of Rs 30,000.

The Call of Design initiative was started by TVS back in 2019 with the intention of improving community relations and after having received good feedback on that end, TVS kicked off the second season back in August 2020. The theme for the second season, like the first, is based around a comic book/superhero strip that TVS has come up with. This time around, for season two, it was called Rise of the Ntorqians. The criteria stated for the contest was that the design should be in line with the comic book theme while still retaining TVS’ race themed design philosophy for the Ntorq 125.

Aayush with his sleek, minimalistic cyber design, bagged first place. The design of first runner up who received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 belonged to Abhishek Chellapandiyan from Srate School of Design (Bengaluru) and the second runner up, who won a cash prize of Rs 20,000 was Arsh Riyaz Maknojia from MIT Institute of Design (Pune). There were two other categories of awards, namely Media and Viewer’s Choice. The winners for the ‘Media’ category were Bilal Firfiray (Bikewale), Gaurav Sadanand (ZigWheels), Shoeb Kalania (Indian Autos Blog) and Oberdan Bezzi (Motoroids), respectively. The Viewer’s Choice award, which was decided by a vote from 15 designs was the overall second runner up — Arsh Riyaz Maknojia.

The panel of judges that inspected and decided the winners included senior staff from TVS Motor Company, namely, Elias Abraham (senior vice president, style and design, research and development), Varghese M Thomas (vice president, corporate communication), Aniruddha Haldar (vice president, marketing – commuter motorcycles, scooters and corporate brand) and Amit Rajwade (head, scooter design, research and development)

The Call of Design is an interesting initiative from TVS and it will be nice to see what new designs are yielded from the next iteration of the series, when TVS announces it.
