Volkswagen India releases safety manual to ensure safety and hygiene at dealerships

Volkswagen India introduced a comprehensive program across all dealerships and service stations to ensure the safety of staff and customers while meeting demand

Now that most manufacturers have slowly begun to resume work at their production facilities and dealerships, it is important for companies to adhere to the safety guidelines set by the government. Volkswagen India has taken a step in the right direction by releasing a safety manual that guides everyone through the safety measures to be taken across the dealerships and service stations. The safety guidelines include maintaining hygienic practices, timely sanitization of the premises and cars, thermal scanning of staff as well as customers before he/she enters the premises, safe distancing, wearing of masks and gloves, ease of access to hand sanitizers at every place. The sales, service and administration teams have also been given virtual training on how to follow these guidelines.

The company encourages its staff members to wear protective gear and perform contactless welcome gestures during the pick and drop of cars. It has also made provisions for hand gloves and masks across its 137 sales and 116 service stations. In addition to that, the sanitized and disinfected dealerships will be branded by a new logo that will be Volkswagen’s Safe and Sanitized logo. Certain other initiatives like digital brochures, remote test drives, pick-up and drop services are also being considered as precautionary measures.

Speaking about the program Mr Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “At Volkswagen, safety is in our DNA, which isn’t limited to our vehicles but also extends to human well-being. The #VWellnessIndia program provides our network extensive details on sanitization and contactless measures that need to be implemented for business continuity. He added that we aim to offer our customers complete peace of mind and hassle-free experience while visiting a Volkswagen sales and service facility.”

To provide more information on this program VW has released a series of videos that shows the safety guidelines that are followed in their dealerships as well as service stations that can be seen below. Other manufacturers have also followed similar and it is essential at a time like this where demand for private transport will increase.
