Volkswagen released a digital render of the facelift Tiguan

The refreshed Tiguan is all set to debut later this summer in Europe

Volkswagen‘s best selling SUV, the Tiguan, is all set to get a facelift. The German manufacturer released a digital render of what to expect in terms of the styling changes for this mid-cycle refresh. The Tiguan has been the most successful SUV and best selling model last year for the Volkswagen group internationally, so it makes sense to give it a mid-cycle facelift, keeping the car even more relevant and attractive to customers.

The digital render for the Tiguan showcases the sleek front headlight design that stretches into the fenders and it seems quite similar to the new-age generation Golf's design language. You can also see all lower bumper with much larger air dams and a sleek VW grille that looks sportier and sharper. Additional features said to be added are the new touchscreen-based infotainment system, borrowed from the brand's new cars, along with the ability to support Over The Air updates for other online services and more app-based integration.

Drivetrain-wise, this new refresh is rumoured to get a petrol plug-in hybrid variant capable of running only on battery power. Also rumoured to be in the works is a Tiguan R model, recently spotted lapping the Nürburgring. As of now, there is no word from Volkswagen India whether this refreshed model will come to India, as the current focus for the German brand in India is on the Volkswagen T-Cross and Tigaun Allspace that will be followed by the much awaited Taigun early next year. But keeping in mind Volkswagen’s new all-SUV strategy for India, this new refreshed Tiguan will make a great addition to the brand's portfolio in India, if it is offered with the right drivetrain variant.
