Volvo launches the XC40 in Momentum and Inscription trims at Rs 39.9 lakh and Rs 43.9 lakh

Post the introduction of the XC40 R-Design earlier this month, Volvo has now expanded the XC40 range with the introduction of the base Momentum at Rs 39.9 lakh and the range-topping Inscription for Rs 43.9 lakh, both prices being ex-showroom in India. The R-Design, which has been launched at an introductory Rs 39.9 lakh will now cost Rs 42.9 lakh. True to its words, Volvo has sold all 200 units of the XC40 that the company had initially brought to India.

The XC40 gets features like front radar, leather upholstery, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, hill descent control, rear parking camera and sunroof as standard equipment. In addition to these features, the R-Design trim gets the heated front and rear seats, automatic tailgate, park assist (front and rear), adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, navigation and Harman Kardon audio system. The range topping Inscription trim gets features including power adjustable rear headrests, crystal gear lever knob, bright décor side windows, a 12-V outlet in the luggage compartment, Inscription grille, integrated roof rails and 6-spoke diamond cut alloys in addition to the features that the other two trims get.

Mechanically, the SUV remains unchanged and is powered by a 1,969cc inline 4-cylinder diesel motor which puts out 187.4bhp and 400Nm of peak twist. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV is built on the new Compact Modular Architecture, which the company will be using for making its electric cars in the near future.

On the launch of the two new variants, Charles Frump, the managing director of Volvo Car India said, “We are absolutely delighted to have received such a positive response for the newly launched XC40. It’s a great beginning for us and we expect it to contribute considerably in achieving 10 per cent segment share by 2020.”
