Lister Cars to debut the world’s fastest SUV “Lightning”

Lightning Strikes: Lister Cars making world’s fastest SUV

Brian Lister founded the Lister Cars in 1954. They are known for their association with motorsport right from the beginning. The company changed hands a number of times and was finally bought by Warrantywise. This  British sports car manufacturer have been working on Jaguars since a long time giving them a Lister shade of performance. Recently the motor company also unveiled the Lister 5.0 V8 Coupe that produces 666Bhp based on the Jaguar F-Type. Now, Lister Cars is aiming to set a new record for the world’s fastest SUV with Lightning. An upcoming project that is based on the Jaguar F-Pace SVR.Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk holds the current world record for gasoline powered SUV. It has a 100 kmph sprint timing of just 3.5 seconds, followed by the Lamborghini Urus which does it in 3.6 seconds. If you consider electric SUVs, the Tesla Model X does it in a much quicker time of 2.9 seconds.

Beating the current world record

To beat the 3.5 seconds mark, Lister Lightning should be producing close to 700 hp. This is to compete with the likes of Jeep Grand Cherokee’s 707 hp. To handle such humongous power, Lister has updated spring and dampers, has put in antiroll bar, a bigger forged alloy. It also has a body kit for better aerodynamics and broader and softer tyres. According to a teaser released by Lister cars, Lightning will also carry the signature paint scheme of yellow and green. In January 2018, Lister Cars announced the much awaited 666bhp Lister 5.0 V8 Coupe. It is a modified Jaguar F-Type which features a tuned version of the Jaguar 5.0 litre Supercharged V8, producing 666bhp. We are excited to see the Lightning become the fastest SUV in the world. Other projects that Lister are working on include the Thunder Coupe and Storm II.
