The Indu Chandhok Memorial 48th South India Rally took place from April 25 to 27

The Indu Chandhok Memorial 48th South India Rally was run in and around the Madras International Circuit in Sriperumbudur from April 25 to 27 and there was plenty of action on offer during the rally. This was also the first time that the grid featured a Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Organised by the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC), the rally consisted of 135km of fast, flowing and technical Special Stages which were mostly made up of gravel, and the average speeds were expected to be high.

The rally consisted of multiple classes running concurrently, which included the FIA APRC class and the Blueband FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship 2025. The rally also included a new INRC 3T class for turbocharged cars – which enabled a newer variety of vehicles like the Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx to take part in Indian rallies. Coming to the results, it was national champion Karna Kadur (co-driver Musa Sherif) who clocked the fastest time in the FIA APRC class as well as the INRC Overall class over the course of the rally weekend. Here’s a closer look at the results in all classes of the rally.

FIA APRC

36-year old Karna Kadur and co-driver Musa Sherif went on to clinch the crown thanks to a near-flawless drive in their Volkswagen Polo, while Kadur’s teammate from Arka Motorsport, Amittrajit Ghosh (co-driver Ashwin Naik) came in second place in the FIA APRC class. It was Harkirshan Wadia who completed the podium in the APRC class.

Junior APRC

Harkrishan Wadia from Arka Motorsports went on to clock the fastest time in the Junior APRC category, while Arnav Pratap Singh (co-driver Rohit N) finished in second place. It was Abhin Rai (co-driver Moideen Jasheer) who completed the podium in the Junior APRC class.

Just like the APRC class, it was Karna Kadur (co-driver Musa Sherif) and Amittrajit Ghosh (co-driver Ashwin Naik) who grabbed the first and second place in the INRC Overall class, respectively, while Fabid Ahmer (co-driver Milen George) from Chettinad Sporting went on to complete the podium, finishing in third place.

INRC1

Karna Kadur (co-driver Musa Sherif) and Amittrajit Ghosh (co-driver Ashwin Naik) seemed to be on a lucky streak, going on to grab the first two places, respectively, in the INRC1 class as well. The podium in the INRC1 category was completed by Suhem Kabeer (co-driver Vinay Padmashali), the duo finishing in third place.

Fabid Ahmer (co-driver Milen George) from Chettinad Sporting clocked the fastest time in the INRC2 category, while Pragathi Gowda (co-driver Chandramouli M) and Harkrishan Wadia finished in second and third place respectively.

In the INRC3 class, it was Arnav Pratap Singh (co-driver Rohit N) from Snap Racing who finished the rally in first place

In the INRC3 class, it was Arnav Pratap Singh (co-driver Rohit N) from Snap Racing who finished the rally in first place, followed by Vishak B (co-driver Chiranth Jain) from Chettinad Sporting. Meanwhile, it was Abhin Rai (co-driver Moideen Jasheer) who went on to complete the podium in this category of the rally.

The new INRC 3T featured turbocharged cars like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and the Hyundai i20

INRC 3T

This new category was arguably the one to watch out for as it was a landmark moment in the Indian national rally scene, thanks to new vehicles like the turbocharged Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx making their debut. The Hyundai was prepared by Coimbatore-based JA Motorsports and would be driven by Jeet Jhabhakh (co-driver V Sekar). Meanwhile, the Suzukis were driven by C Ramcharan and Naveen Puligilla. It was Ramcharan (co-driver Vignesh Mahalingam) who grabbed the top spot in the INRC 3T (Turbo) class, with Puligilla (co-driver Santosh Ritchy Thomas) finishing in second place. Jhabak finished the rally in third place in his class, completing the podium.

Tarushi Vikram (co-driver Vybhav Mukund Rao) from Chettinad Sporting posted the fastest time in Women INRC category

Tarushi Vikram (co-driver Vybhav Mukund Rao) from Chettinad Sporting posted the fastest time in her category, followed by Phoebe Nongrum Dale (co-driver Nash Ross) in second place. The podium in the Women INRC class was completed by Anushriya Gulati (co-driver Karan Aukta).

Junior INRC

The Junior INRC category of the rally was won by Abhin Rai (co-driver Moideen Jasheer), with Ajay Shankar (co-driver Venu Ramesh Kumar) from Falkon Motorsports finishing in second place. RB Kharbirymbai (co-driver Dhanush CP) finished third in their class, thus completing the podium in the Junior INRC category.

FMSCI Gypsy Challenge

Sanjay Agarwal (co-driver Dheeraj Manae) went on to win the FMSCI Gypsy challenge, followed by Kariappa Mekerira (co-driver Supreeth Sagar) finishing this category of the rally in second place. Pankaj Dutt (co-driver Jibran Ahmed) completed the podium in the FMSCI Gypsy Challenge, finishing in third place.

FMSCI Classic Challenge

Pramod Raman (co-driver Dheeraj KV) clocked the fastest time in the FMSCI Classic Challenge, thereby winning the category, with Siddhartha Santhosh (co-driver Sawan Satyanarayan) finishing in second place. Meanwhile, Satish P (co-driver Dr. Dinesh S) finished the class in third place, thus completing the podium.

The Indu Chandhok Memorial 48th South India Rally was an action-packed rally, but the introduction of newer, more contemporary cars in the INRC 3T class will definitely make the upcoming rallies even more exciting – which is great news for a motorsport enthusiast!
