Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Everything we know so far!
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara gets two battery pack options, a 5-star BNCAP rating and Level 2 ADAS

The e Vitara is Maruti Suzuki's first electric offering for India
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara marks the carmaker’s debut in the EV arena (no pun intended) and the electric mid-size SUV is one we’ve been waiting for since a considerable amount of time. The e Vitara will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Mahindra BE 6 as well the newly-launched Mahindra XEV 9S, and this Maruti Suzuki will be available with two battery pack options. The SUV will be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA network and let us take a closer look at everything we know about the e Vitara.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara design
The e Vitara is unlike anything we’ve seen from the brand in India, but it does bear a passing resemblance to the Grand Vitara with its mid-size SUV proportions and strong chin upfront. It doesn’t get a conventional grille because it’s an EV, but what you get instead is an active lower grille for cooling. The headlamps and tail lamps get what Maruti calls a ‘three-point’ motif, and the SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with aero covers. The e Vitara will have five main exterior paint schemes to choose from — Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Bluish Black, Opulent Red, Land Breeze Green and Nexa Blue along with four dual-tone options.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara interiors and features
The cabin of the e Vitara features a two-spoke steering wheel as well as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. The front seats are ventilated and this Maruti Suzuki is equipped with a fixed glass roof – there’s no panoramic sunroof here. On the safety front, the e Vitara comes with Level 2 ADAS and gets 7 airbags as standard on all variants, with some of its rivals only offering 7 airbags on the higher variants. The SUV has secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash safety rating and it is the fourth model from Maruti Suzuki to do so, following the Dzire, Invicto and Victoris. The e Vitara scored 31.49 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 points for child in the BNCAP crash tests.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara powertrain
The e Vitara will be offered with two battery sizes – a 49kWh and 61kWh, and the latter is claimed to have an ARAI-certified range of up to 543km. We have already driven the UK-spec e Vitara earlier this year in the UK, which is offered with both the battery pack options as well FWD or AWD, and while you can check out our driving impressions of the SUV here, it is likely that the India-spec car could get tweaks to the powertrains and even the suspension to suit our conditions better.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara price and rivals
We’ve seen the e Vitara in production form and when Maruti Suzuki does launch the electric SUV in India, it will go up against rivals like the Tata Nexon EV, the Hyundai Creta Electric, the MG Windsor EV, Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9S, VinFast’s VF 6 and VF 7, the Tata Harrier EV and the Tata Curvv EV. Maruti Suzuki aims to be ambitious with its first electric offering for India, and you can stay tuned to this space for our first drive review of the SUV, which will drop very soon.
