Mercedes-AMG GT3 and Black Series

Mercedes-AMG had showcased the Concept AMG GT Track Sport last year and it caught the attention of enthusiasts in a blink. Now after the development of that platform, Mercedes-AMG teased two new models of their GT line-up, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 racecar and the road-legal homologation of the same, the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

Continuing the racing program, which started with the Mercedes-AMG SLS GT3 in 2011, the latest version of the GT3 car will be based on Mercedes-AMG GT. The car has been worked upon under the Concept AMG GT Track Sport and is being extensively tested on various different tracks around the world. The GT3 is now set to start its testing and the next phase of development at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. With the new GT3, Mercedes-AMG promises to bring out the most extreme GT3 and Black Series ever produced till date. Mercedes-AMG aims to set new track records and standards of performance on the race track. They have showcased the two cars in two different colour schemes, red representing the GT3 racecar and yellow representing the road-legal homologation of the same, the Black Series.

Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series

The Black Series has always been the pinnacle of performance from Mercedes-AMG. Only select models from the Mercedes-Benz line-up receive the Black Series treatment which make them the ultimate Mercedes-AMG vehicle. This new GT Black Series has been showcased with center-lock wheels, a side-exit exhaust, and a swan-neck wing which can be seen from a kilometre away. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series might get a flat-plane crank V8 that should produce above 710bhp, ditching the hybrid integration. With the Black Series, Mercedes-AMG aims to bring the closest form of track performance to a road-legal car.

“At AMG, we develop vehicles to exceed expectations. And that is exactly what the future Black Series and the new GT3 will do.” says Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. Mercedes-AMG is still to give concrete information about the exact technical specifications of both the cars, but we know that the Black Series will be as close as it can get to the proper racecar which the GT3 will be.
