The F67 Mini Cooper S Convertible has made its India debut at ₹58.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets updated styling, more digital tech, slightly more power, and the same open-top personality that has kept the Convertible alive even as the rest of the market moves towards SUVs. It brings familiar proportions, a fabric soft-top roof and a lightly updated 2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Mini Cooper S Convertible design

The new Cooper S Convertible stays true to Mini’s iconic cues but dials back the playful caricature of older models. The round headlights remain, but the grille is now octagonal and the tail-lamps continue with the Union Jack motif. The highlight is, of course, the black soft-top roof – a fully automatic unit that folds in 18 seconds and can be operated at speeds of up to 30kmph. It tucks away cleanly behind the rear seats without creating a bulky stack, and you can optionally spec a subtle grey Union Jack pattern on the fabric.

It rides on 18-inch wheels, with customers able to choose between two designs; Night Flash Spoke alloys with bronze accents or the Side Flash Spoke. The Convertible is offered in multiple colours including Chilli Red, Sunny Side Yellow, Ocean Wave Green and the quintessential British Racing Green. The overall design looks calmer and more mature, without losing the cheeky Mini character.

Inside, the layout mirrors the new Mini Cooper S hatch, dominated by a 9.4-inch circular OLED display that replaces most physical buttons. You still get a proper volume knob, a toggle for the Experience Modes, the aircraft-style starter switch and a separate toggle for the drive selector. The display features a special anti-smudge coating and includes navigation, media, climate and other vehicle controls.

There’s also a head-up display and a 365W 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system that remains impressively clear even with the roof down. Material quality has improved with knitted fabric inserts across the dash and door cards with ambient lighting woven in. The Vescin sports seats offer electric adjustment and even a massage function for the driver. Space remains tight at the back, and the boot measures 160 litres with the roof down and 215 litres with the roof up.

Mini Cooper S Convertible performance

The Mini Cooper S Convertible sports the updated B48 2-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, now making 201bhp (+12bhp) and 300Nm (+20Nm), paired to a 7-speed DCT. The exhaust is pumped inside the cabin through the speakers. 0 to 100kmph comes up in 6.9 seconds.

There’s no paddle shifters on the steering wheel for you to take manual control, but there is a ‘Go Kart’ drive mode which puts the car into its maximum power settings.

Mini Cooper S Convertible price and rivals

The Mini Cooper S Convertible is India’s most affordable Convertible once again. It is offered in the Favored trim in India, and has been launched at ₹58.5 lakh. In terms of competition, it sits in a niche of its own with no direct rivals, but there are pricier rivals such as the MG Cyberster, BMW Z4, and the Mercedes-Benz CLE.
