The Hypermotard is the last of Ducati’s twelve products promised for India in 2021

The 2021 Ducati Hypermotard has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh, and makes its way here after the 2021 Monster. Ducati India has stuck to its promise of launching 12 new products in the Indian market, having begun with the Scrambler lineup, followed by the Streetfighter, Panigale, Diavel, Multistrada, XDiavel, Supersport, and the aforementioned Monster. Prices for the 2021 Ducati Hypermotard are finally out, with the Hypermotard RVE and the Hypermotard SP priced at Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 16.24 lakh respectively.

2021 Ducati Hypermotard Design

We have always believed looks are subjective, and we have got to admit the 2021 Ducati Hypermotard looks stunning! The steel trellis frame is exposed and has been finished in red (depending on the variant), and the Hypermotard also boasts dual undertail exhaust pipes. Each variant is available in different paint schemes, with the RVE available in the Graffiti livery while the SP variant is available in a livery that pays tribute to the world of MotoGP.

Like most Ducati motorcycles that were launched this year, the Hypermotard is also powered by the same 937cc Testastretta 11° L-Twin liquid-cooled engine but now it runs cleaner than before and it has been upgraded to comply with the BS6 emission norms. This engine produces 112.4bhp at 9000rpm and 96Nm of torque at 7250rpm, and is mated to a six-speed transmission which has now been revised to make it precise and easier for riders to shift into neutral.

The 2021 Ducati Hypermotard is underpinned by a tubular steel trellis frame chassis finished in red. However, while both variants have an aluminium single-sided swingarm in common, they receive different front suspension setups — the Hypermotard RVE get 45mm fully adjustable Marzocchi USD forks up front and a Sachs progressive linkage preload adjustable monoshock with rebound damping. Meanwhile the SP variant receives 48mm fully adjustable USD forks and a progressive linkage fully-adjustable Ohlins monoshock. The Hypermotard RVE receives 170mm and 150mm of wheel travel on the front and rear respectively. The Hypermotard SP gets a larger amount of wheel travel at 185mm and 175mm respectively for the front and the rear.

The Hypermotard SP also receives a larger seat height of 890mm compared to the 870mm seat height of the other two variants.

Both variants sport 17-inch three-spoke alloy wheels shod on tyres from Pirelli, but there are differences again. While the Hypermotard RVE sports Diablo Rosso IIIs on both ends (120/70 ZR17 front, 180/55 ZR17 rear), the SP receives a 120/70 ZR17 Supercorsa SP V3 up front and a 180/55 ZR17 Supercorsa SP at the rear.

The braking setup is common across all variants — the front receives four-piston Brembo Monobloc calipers with a radial pump mounted on 320mm aluminium flange twin discs, while the rear gets two-piston calipers mounted on a 245mm disc.

In terms of kerb weight, the Hypermotard RVE weighs two kilos more than the SP, weighing 200kg and 198kg respectively.

2022 Ducati Hypermotard Features

Some of the standard equipment on all variants of the Hypermotard include three riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban), ride-by-wire, Bosch Cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, self-cancelling turn indicators, tapered aluminium handlebars, removable rear footpegs, and a USB charging socket, with a quickshifter as an option. The Hypermotard RVE receives a quickshifter in addition to the standard equipment on the base variant, while the Hypermotard SP receives Marcheshini forged wheels and carbon fibre elements. Optional equipment includes the Ducati Multimedia System, an anti-theft system, and heated grips.

2021 Ducati Hypermotard Price and Rivals

The 2021 Ducati Hypermotard is being offered in two variants — the Hypermotard RVE and the Hypermotard SP. The Hypermotard RVE costs Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Hypermotard SP priced at Rs 16.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2021 Ducati Hypermotard has no direct rivals at the moment, with the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 having been discontinued.
