2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid launched, prices start from Rs 89.9 lakh

The 2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid ditches the 2.0-litre diesel for a 2.0-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol

Volvo India has quietly launched the XC90 mild-hybrid, with prices starting from Rs 89.9 lakh. The 2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid has arrived after the S90 and XC60 mild-hybrid were launched last month. Until now, the XC90 was the only model in Volvo’s lineup to feature a diesel engine while the rest of the vehicles moved on to turbo-petrol units.

2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid Powertrain

The 2021 Volvo XC90 gets a change of heart — the 2.0-litre diesel engine has now been replaced by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit which works in assistance with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This engine produces 295bhp and 420Nm of peak torque, and is paired to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid Features

There’s no shortage of equipment on the 2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid and it continues to get an all-wheel drive system, Advanced Air cleaning, wireless charging, head-up display, ventilated seats with a ten-point massage function, nappa leather upholstery, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, panoramic sunroof, and individual air conditioning for all rows among others.

In terms of safety, you get driver support functions which includes a 360-degree camera, blind spot information system, parking assist, lane keep assist, and collision alert.

The 2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid joins the XC90 plug-in hybrid, which is also India’s first plug-in hybrid SUV. With prices starting from Rs 89.9 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the 2021 Volvo XC90 mild-hybrid costs Rs 6.75 lakh lesser than the plug in hybrid, Rs 9.7 lakh lesser than the BMW X7 and Rs 9.7 lakh lesser than the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the only two competitors to the Swedish flagship SUV.
