2022 Hyundai Creta facelift unveiled

The biggest changes on the 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift include a newer front end and addition of ADAS safety features

The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift has just been revealed at the GIIAS 2021 motor show, revealing crucial details of what to expect when this SUV is introduced in India next year. As always, Hyundai has further added new-age features to an already tech-laden product. Let's quickly have a look then, shall we?

In terms of styling, the Indonesia-spec Creta features a heavily reworked front-end that is inspired by the all-new Tucson sold in various international markets. Now in line with Hyundai’s new-age SUV’s, the 2022 Creta facelift wears the brand’s 'parametric grille' design that stretches across the entire width of the face and neatly incorporates the DRLs, making it look part of the grille when turned off. Besides this, the headlight cluster is now a new unit which is expected to make use of LED illumination. The bumper itself has been heavily reworked to accommodate the bigger grille and newer headlamps, and now makes use of more contours than before.

Side profile remains identical to the outgoing version, including the design of the 17-inch alloy wheels. On the rear, the 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift sports a newer tail lamp design that extends to the tailgate, a design element that’s in use on the current Creta sold in Russia. The tailgate has been refreshed too, sporting more angular cuts, while the bumper remains identical to the outgoing version.

2022 Hyundai Creta facelift interiors

Changes to the interiors are far more subtle. The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift continues to get the same dashboard layout, but now comes finished in piano black. As seen on the Alcazar, the upholstery is now finished in cognac-brown and the cabin also benefits from a yacht-styled gear selector.

The Creta is currently Hyundai’s best-selling product globally and the Koreans would like to keep it this way. In-line with this objective, the brand has further updated the already-extensive features list of the Creta, now equipping it with an Advance Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) of its own that adds safety features like lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and autonomous emergency braking with forward collision avoidance on the top trim of the SUV.

Having taken notice of the Advanced Driver Assist System that the MG Astor comes equipped with, Hyundai India is expected to introduce the India-bound 2022 Creta facelift with these features as well.

What’s more, the 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift also gets new BlueLink connected features like stolen vehicle tracking, stolen vehicle immobilisation and a valet parking mode, all of which will be accessible via a smartphone.

2022 Hyundai Creta engine options

No changes are expected in terms of the powertrain on offer, so we expect the 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift to come with three engine options on offer - the 1.5-litre four-cyl nat-asp petrol (113.5hp, 144Nm), the 1.4-litre four-cyl turbocharged petrol engine (138bhp, 242Nm) and a 1.5-litre four-cyl turbocharged diesel engine (113bhp, 250Nm). Gearbox options remain the same as well - a six-speed MT and IVT with the 1.5-litre NA petrol, a six-speed MT and 7-speed DCT with the 1.4-litre T-GDi and a six-speed six-speedMT and six-speed AT with the 1.5-litre diesel.

2022 Hyundai Creta facelift India launch

The current generation of the Hyundai Creta might only be a year old but Hyundai, to keep themselves ahead of the rest, is expected to introduce the 2022 Hyundai Creta sometime next year. The Hyundai Creta goes up against the likes of the MG Astor, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Renault Duster and the Nissan Kicks. We expect the India-bound 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift to carry most of what we see on the Indonesian model showcased today. Watch this space for more
