The 2023 Hyundai i20 N Line is here and it is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Just like the standard 2023 i20, it gets a few cosmetic tweaks, a few changes to the interior and finally, the option of a manual transmission. The i20 N Line now remains the only option in the i20 range to sport a turbo-petrol engine.

Changes to the 2023 i20 N Line's exterior are minor and you'd have to look really closely to spot them. Upfront, the headlights get a new DRL element and the single projector unit has made way for three LEDs. The grille, now borrowed from the standard i20, no longer features the checkered pattern and it gets Hyundai's new 2D satin logo. The new i20 N Line continues to ride on 16-inch alloys albeit with an updated design. There aren't any changes to the rear and it continues to boast Z-shaped wraparound LED tail lights, a spoiler with side wings and a double barrel exhaust. The i20 N Line can now be had in a new 'Abyss Black' shade.

Just like the exterior, the interior of the 2023 i20 N Line gets only a few tweaks. Taking centre stage is the same 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, supporting only wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. But below it there's a little, but a really practical, addition. A proper volume knob! The new i20 also gets three drive modes — Eco, Normal and Sport, which can be changed with a button that's on the right side of the steering wheel. Apart from these two additions, the interior of the new i20 remains unchanged to its predecessor. It gets leather upholstery with red stitching, red mood lighting, a three-spoke steering wheel borrowed straight from the full-blown i20 N hot hatch sold abroad and a digital instrument cluster. Other features include a 7-speaker BOSE music system with a subwoofer, wireless charger, automatic climate control, metal pedals, rear AC vents and a cooled glovebox.

On the safety front, the i20 N Line gets six airbags as standard, ABS, traction control, hill-hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system and disc brakes on all four corners.

Enthusiasts ahoy! Hyundai has finally listened to the enthu-cutlet bunch and given the i20 N Line a manual transmission. It's a 6-speed unit, which has replaced the earlier semi-automated clutchless manual and this should make the car more engaging to drive. There are no changes to the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine though. It churns out 118bhp and 172Nm of peak torque and just like before, can also be paired to the 7-speed DCT.

2023 Hyundai i20 N Line price and rivals

The new i20 N Line gets two trim levels — N6 and N8. You can have the manual 'box on either of these two and the range starts at Rs 9.99 lakh for the N6 manual variant, going up to Rs 12.31 lakh for the top-spec N8 DCT, the same as before! The i20 N Line is now the only turbo-petrol i20 available on sale in India and it rivals the likes of the Nissan Magnite Turbo and the Tata Altroz iTurbo.
