Celebrations of a successful year has brought in a premium package from Audi! The Audi A4 Premium has been launched in a bid to make the luxury premium sedan even more accessible to those looking to own a car with four rings. The Audi A4 Premium receives a slightly revised equipment list, and seems to compete directly against the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in terms of its pricing.

What’s new in the Audi A4 Premium?

On the outside, there’s nothing to differentiate the A4 Premium over the other two variants. It retains the same, mature and polished exteriors as the facelifted model that was launched earlier this year — we’ve reviewed it and you can click here in case you’re interested.

The equipment list is where the changes are because the Audi A4 Premium receives slightly different features compared to the Premium Plus and Technology variants. The three-zone automatic air conditioning and the 30-colour contour ambient lighting has been replaced by a single-zone automatic aircon unit and single-colour ambient lighting in the entry-level Premium variant. Additionally, the A4 Premium also receives six airbags instead of the usual eight on higher variants. The rest of the equipment continues to be standard, which means it still receives cruise control with speed limiter, electrically-adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar support, electrically-adjustable heated ORVMs with heating and anti-glare function, Parking Aid Plus, rear parking camera, Audi Drive Select, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Audi Smartphone Interface, Audi Sound System, and wireless charging among others.

The Audi A4 Premium continues to be powered by a 2-litre TFSI unit, which produces 187bhp at 4200-6000rpm, and 320Nm of torque at 1450-4200rpm, and is paired to a 7-speed S tronic gearbox. The A4 is capable of reaching 100kmph in 7.3 seconds and maxes out at 241kmph.

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, “The Audi A4 since its launch in January has garnered great response. This is a car that has historically been a volume seller for the brand. Today, we are happy to introduce a new variant the Audi A4 Premium to mark the success of our brand in 2021. This is a time to celebrate, and we couldn’t be happier that we are able to give our customers a choice of three trim levels to choose from. I am confident this will bring in more customers to the ever-growing Audi family. The Audi A4 Premium with its multi-dimensional design is perfect for both everyday driving and a thrilling, fun drive. Built for comfort, safety, and practicality, the car is equipped with multiple state-of-the-art features that make it a combination of power, technology, and efficiency.”

With a price tag of Rs 39.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom), the Audi A4 Premium sits lower than the Premium Plus and Technology variants, thus placing it directly against the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, and making it a lot more affordable than its rivals — the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (Rs 50.01 lakh), BMW 3 Series (Rs 44.90 lakh), Volvo S60 (Rs 45.90 lakh), and the Jaguar XE (Rs 46.64 lakh).

Next up, Audi India is gearing up for the comeback of what was once Bollywood’s favorite luxury SUV — the Q7. The Q5, another volume-seller for Audi India, has also been relaunched after a brief hiatus — you can click here to read our impressions.
