BMW C 400 GT launched, prices start from Rs 9.95 lakh

The BMW C 400 GT does not aim to be a volume-seller but is instead meant to be a lifestyle offering

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the C 400 GT in India after teasing it on social media for some time. The BMW C 400 GT received an upgrade internationally earlier this year, which saw changes made to the engine to make it Euro 5 compliant, along with the addition of new equipment and a new colour. While the C 400 is offered in two variants internationally — the C 400 GT and the C 400 X, we will only be getting the latter in India.

BMW C 400 GT Design

The BMW C 400 GT is the only full-size maxi scooter available in India, and it is available in a choice of two colours — Alpine White, and Style Triple Black. The single unit seat has a lower seat height for the rider at 775mm. It gets all-LED headlamps and tail lamp, and the floorboard is not a conventional single piece, but rather a split unit, which would mimic the seating position of a motorcycle.

BMW C 400 GT Powertrain and Chassis

The BMW C 400 GT is powered by a 350cc liquid-cooled engine which is BS6-compliant and receives ride-by-wire technology. Producing 33bhp at 7500rpm and 35Nm of torque at 5750rpm, the BMW C 400 GT maxes out at a top-speed of 139kmph. This makes it the most powerful scooter in India, beating the Yamaha Aerox which is a whole segment below the C 400 GT.

The BMW C 400 GT gets 35mm telescopic forks at the front, and double spring struts at the rear with preload adjustability, while braking is taken care of by 265mm twin discs mounted on a four-piston caliper up front, and a 265mm disc mounted on a single-piston caliper at the rear. Being a full-size maxi scooter, the C 400 GT is not lightweight by any standards with a kerb weight of 214kg.

BMW C 400 GT Equipment

The C 400 GT packs features such as keyless ride, ABS, automatic stability control (ASC), and a 12V USB socket. Additionally, the comfort package includes the 6.5-inch TFT colour display which replaces the conventional semi-digital instrument cluster. This also adds the BMW Motorrad connectivity system, which enables smartphone connectivity, music streaming, turn-by-turn navigation, calls and SMS alerts, heated hand grips, and a heated seat. Underseat storage space stands at 31-litres, which can be increased to 45-litres with the addition of the Flexcase underseat pouch.

Besides, the C 400 GT also gets an accessory package which includes luggage boxes, a larger windscreen, smartphone bracket, an even lower seat with a 760mm height, and much more.
