Sports cars to the top of the world headline the September 2022 issue of evo India!
For the September issue of evo India we joined 20 sports cars on the Mod Ball run, where a collective total of 9000+ bhp reverberated through the spectacular northern regions of Kashmir, Jammu, Ladakh, and even the fearsome passes of Zoji La and Khardung La. Who said India does not have great roads for driving enthusiasts?
We then set a national record for the longest drive along India’s western border, driving the VW Taigun on the Bharatmala and then the Border Fence Road. The latter is the first time civilians have been on the Fence Road through the Rann of Kutch right on the international Indo-Pak border, an absolutely spectacular drive.
Also in this issue, we have reviews of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson and Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. We even got a quick spin in the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. We head out road-tripping with the Nissan Magnite and the Mahindra Scorpio-N, not to mention our epic record attempt along India’s western border with the Volkswagen Taigun. Mod Ball Run
20 sports cars heading, quite literally, to the top of the world! We slapped a set of Vredestein Ultrac Vorti I rubber on the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 and joined 20 enthusiasts and their sports cars, experiencing a mix of roads, soaking in spectacular scenery, snaking up the passes of Zoji La and Khardung La, and proving that India has plenty of roads for petrol heads to explore.
Border Patrol with the Volkswagen Taigun
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, and the 1st anniversary of the VW Taigun, we drove from Tanot in Rajasthan to Nadabet in Gujarat along the Bharatmala and the Border Fence Road, setting a record for the longest drive along India’s western border. This is also the first time that the BSF has allowed civilians to drive the Fence Road, and it makes for an absolutely spectacular story.
