Honda Amaze facelift launched, prices start at Rs 6.32 lakh

The new Honda Amaze remains mechanically unchanged but gets new front aesthetics, new body colour and bigger wheels

Honda Cars India launched the facelifted Amaze with prices starting from Rs 6.32 lakh for the base petrol variant E, going all the way up to Rs 11.15 lakh for the diesel VX CVT variant. The facelifted Honda Amaze remains mechanically unchanged but gets fresh styling, tweaked interiors, along with additional features. However, the base variant E remains unchanged in terms of engine, features and even styling.

Engine and Transmission

Just like before, the Honda Amaze will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol i-VTEC engine churns out 88.76bhp at 6000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4800rpm, which can be mated to a CVT or a manual transmission. The diesel 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine mated to a manual transmission puts out 98.63bhp at 3600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm. And if mated to the CVT the same diesel engine will give you 79bhp at 3600rpm and 160Nm of torque at 1750rpm. This is mechanically identical to the pre-facelift car.

Styling

The new Honda Amaze gets a new multilayered chrome grille at the front along with LED DRLs and automatic LED projector headlamps for the top-spec VX variant. New 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are also kept exclusively for the VX variant. The rest of the variants just get the new grill and a few chrome accents. The rear also gets new C-shaped tail lamps (though they look rather similar to the pre-facelift car) and more chrome running across the boot-lid. The Amaze will have a total of five colour options — Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic and the latest Meteoroid Grey Metallic.

Interior

The interior of the new Amaze will be the same as before but now has silver accents on the steering wheel, dashboard and door trims, and the AC vents are surrounded by chrome trim. The interior is dominated by beige colour seats and door panels in contrast with the black just like in previous models, and also there is now leather around the gear lever for manual variants. The fully blown VX trim gets an additional front map lamp.

Features

The Amaze E variant packs the standard features such as front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat, dust and pollen filter and front cup holders. In addition to these, the mid-spec S gets shark fin antenna, power ORVM, tilt steering, steering mounted telephony controls and keyless entry. Over and above these features, the VX variant gets a 7-inch touchscreen display with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic LED projector headlamps, rear multi-view camera, voice commands and start/stop button with smart entry. Features like paddle shift is available on petrol CVT only and cruise control with manual transmission only. There is also an accessory pack with chrome or utility add-ons, wireless charger and tire inflator are also available on offer.

Rivals

The Honda Amaze competes with other compact sedans such as the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire with their prices starting from Rs 5.99 lakh, Rs 5.64 lakh, and Rs 5.98 lakh respectively.
