As is with new Mercedes-Benz models, the new A-Class Limousine is styled with the brand's latest design language that it shares with elder siblings like the E-Class and the S-Class. This means the new A-Class gets a large front grille and new LED headlights with DRLs for a new look. The A-Class Limousine gets a smooth, well-integrated roofline that flows into the boot. At the rear, the new A-Class Limousine gets a new horizontal split tail lamp design that makes it look wider. The A35 AMG variant gets an AMG body kit with sportier bumpers, side skirts and AMG alloy wheels.

The A-Class Limousine is available only in the top-end 'Progressive Line' trim, so it gets all the options as standard, on the inside it comes with dual-screen layout with the latest MBUX infotainment system. There is dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, powered front seats with memory function, a wireless phone charger and ambient lighting among other features that come as standard.

Powering the A-ClassLimousine are two petrol and one diesel powertrains. The petrol engine on offer is the M282 ,1.3-litre, four-cylinder co-developed with Renault that produces 161bhp and 250Nm while the diesel power plant is a 2-litre, four-cylinder making 147bhp and 320Nm. The engines are coupled to a 7-speed DCT automatic and an 8-speed DCT automatic respectively.

The performance oriented A 35 AMG meanwhile is powered by the 2-litre, turbo-petrol, four-pot motor that has been tuned to deliver 301bhp and 400 Nm. It gets a 7-speed dual clutch automatic for fast shifts and promises a 0-100kmph time of 4.8 seconds thanks to Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. We have already driven the A 35 and it’s a true blue AMG, packed with performance to tickle your senses.

For the peace of mind to its customers, Mercedes-Benz is offering a three-year warranty on the A-Class Limousine as standard, with an eightyear warranty on the engine and gearbox even on the A 35 AMG. That could make it more appealing to the buyers who look forward to upgrading their cars every three to four years as it helps them to make a good resale point out of warranty provided, the next owner could also live in peace with almost half of the warranty left.

As of now, the A-Class Limousine faces competition from the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe which made its way to India last year, becoming the entry-point to the BMW sedan range. The A-Class Limousine is priced competitively and what remains to be seen now is the new Audi A3 that is due for launch later this year. The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is Rs 90,000 dearer than the A-Class Limousine but it does not get a performance variant like the A-Class does.

Here are the pricing details of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine:-

• A 200 Progressive Line - Rs 39.90 lakh

• A 200d Progressive Line - Rs 40.90 lakh

• A 35 AMG 4Matic - Rs 56.24 lakh
