New and old Tata Sierra headline December 2025 issue of evo India

Icons have a habit of returning when the time is right, and the December 2025 issue of evo India is built around one such comeback. Thirty-four years after it introduced India to the concept of an SUV the Sierra is back – and we bring the old and the new together to trace the legacy. Icons, in fact, define this issue, with farewell drive – and poster! – of the Bugatti Mistral, the final outing for the mighty quad-turbo W16, delivering 1578bhp and 453kmph in what is quite literally the last of its kind.

Performance and passion run through the rest of the issue. We bring together the Porsche 911 GTS, Cayenne GTS and Panamera GTS to see if GTS really is Porsche’s sweet spot between everyday usability and Turbo excess. At NATRAX we close out our Track Attack series by pushing the Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two to a 281kmph top speed and a new lap record. We also deep dive into what keeps Formula 1 weekends safe with Anatomy of an F1 Safety Car.

The compact SUV segment is a competitive space and we pitch the newest player, the Hyundai Venue against the Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO. First drives include a review of India’s most affordable convertible car, the Mini Cooper S Convertible, and the Citroen Aircross X which gets the ‘X’ treatment. The month also brings big shifts in the market. Mahindra’s XEV 9S marks the brand’s first all-electric seven-seater SUV, and we test it to see how the INGLO platform and 79kWh battery stack up in the real world.

At evo India, we love road trips and we embark on an 1800km road trip with three Skoda Kodiaqs from Delhi to Hyderabad. We journey into the Rann of Kutch with Audi owners for an unforgettable desert drive. Explore Volkswagen’s most complete offering yet in the Tiguan R-Line, and take a close look at VinFast’s customer-first approach by visiting its dealership.

Two wheels get their share of the spotlight too. We test the localised and more affordable Kawasaki KLX 230 which promises to offer the same experience as the imported one but at half the price. We also head to Goa for the Royal Enfield Motoverse and check out some new unveils like the Bullet 650, Flying Flea and even the Continental GT 750 prototype. And we also preview VinFast’s electric two-wheelers that the Vietnamese brand is set to launch in India next year.

Bugatti Mistral poster

The 1578bhp convertible super car tops out at 453kmph – and we drive it, in the rain! This is one last hurrah to the legendary 8-litre, quad-turbo, W16.

OG and reborn Tata Sierra

Is the hype real? To find out we bring old and new Sierra together in this mega 10-page feature. Not merely a first drive impression, this feature traces the legacy of India’s very first SUV while also finding out if the new Sierra can take on the Creta and other modern mid-SUVs.

Porsche GTS special

The GTS variants of the Porsche 911, Cayenne and Panamera cut a fine line between the base cars and the full blown Turbos. We drive all three together and find out if it is the perfect middle ground – balance of power, comfort, and price.

Mahindra XEV 9S

Mahindra’s first 7-seater SUV based on the all-electric INGLO platform is here blending traditional XUV 700 styling with an even more attractive value for money proposition to appeal to a wider audience than the radical 9e.

Icons of Porsche

Our annual to the Porsche festival in Dubai with the highlight being 25 years of the Carrera GT, 60 years of the 911 Targa and debut of the new Cayenne Electric SUV.

Compact SUV comparison test

The new Hyundai Venue gets a 20mm longer wheelbase, sportier styling and a much better interior, addressing the shortcomings of its predecessor. Does it dethrone the competition now? We put it against the segment benchmarks – Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq.

Anatomy of an F1 safety car

A deep dive in to the Aston Martin Vantage F1 safety car, with a look at not just at its specs (that are uprated slightly from the standard car) – but also at how it functions, with plenty of insight from Bernd Mylander who spends up to seven hours in the cockpit of this car every day over an F1 weekend.

NATRAX lap record

In the final instalment of our Track Attack series we set a new production SUV lap record, lapping the NATRAX high speed track at 281kmph.

Mini Cooper S Convertible

India’s most affordable convertible gen arrives with subtle styling tweaks, more tech and more power. We head to Jaisalmer to experience the thrill of open top motoring.

Journeys with Audi: Rann of Kutch

Evo India hosted Audi owners on an unforgettable adventure into the Little Rann of Kutch, with an expansive line up of Audi sportscars and SUVs. Plus passenger rides in a very-fast and very-sideways RS Q8.

Thar Fest Goa

The largest congregation of Mahindra Thars and Thar enthusiasts featured off-roading experiences, a line-up of vintage and classic Mahindras and the Mahindra Club off-road Challenge among other experiences.

Skoda Kodiaq road trip

At evo India, we love road trips. This time around, we drive from Delhi to Hyderabad in the Skoda Kodiaq. With a mix of expressways, highways and country roads, the Kodiaq’s abilities as a road trip machine really shine through.

Special feature: Citroen Aircross X

A young couple and their furry friend head out on a weekend adventure with the newly updated Aircross X.

Special feature: Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

The Tiguan has been a mainstay of the VW line up for years now, and the latest one takes traits of the original and elevates them to another level. VW’s timeless design language has been thoroughly modernised and now gets some flashy colours, the interiors have taken a step up with modern screens and tech and you even get dynamic dampers to enhance the driving experience.

Special feature: Vinfast

We spend time at a VinFast dealership, getting familiar with the cars and discovering the customer-focussed experience of the Vietnamese brand. We also discover that VinFast offers a wide service network with third party service providers along with free charging on the V-Green charging network.

Kawasaki KLX 230

The off-roader has finally been localised which means minor changes to the suspension but a major drop (of ₹1.3 lakh) to the pricing. Could this push the case for more affordable dual-sports in India?

Motoverse 2025

Royal Enfield’s mega party hit Goa with plenty of unveils including the Bullet 650, Flying Flea and Continental GT 750 prototype. With performances from Diplo and Hanumankind, loads of modded bikes, and attendance from RE clubs across the country, this was the biggest RE gathering in recent memory.
