2021 Tata Tigor EV launched, prices start from Rs 11.99 lakh

The 2021 Tata Tigor EV becomes the second car to join Tata’s electric vehicle lineup after the Nexon EV

After unveiling the updated Tata Tigor EV a few days ago, Tata Motors has now finally launched it at a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh. The updated Tata Tigor EV is available in three variants; the XE, the XM, and the XZ+ (with a dual-tone XZ+ DT option available as well). This news comes after Tata revealed its upcoming micro-SUV, the Punch, which is also expected to be launched in the coming months.

The updated Tata Tigor EV is powered by an AC motor which produces 73bhp of peak power and 170Nm of peak torque, and also houses a 26kWh liquid-cooled IP67 rated Lithium-ion battery pack. Tata Motors claims the updated Tigor EV is capable of doing a 0-60kmph run in just 5.6 seconds. The 26kWh battery pack gets an ARAI-certified range of 306 kilometres on a single charge which is compatible with CCS2 fast charging in addition to slow charging. A 25kW fast charger will take an hour to charge from 0-80 per cent, while the home charger will take up to 8 hours and 45 minutes for the same amount of charge. The Tata Tigor EV gets a portable charging cable, and Tata Motors will install a home/work charging setup as well. The installation process will take a week to complete.

The updated Tata Tigor EV gets a lot of safety kit as standard across all variants. This includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, and hill ascent/descent assist. Much like its internal combustion sibling, the Tigor EV also gets a GNCAP 4-star safety rating as well.

The Tata Tigor EV is being offered in three different variants. The base XE variant is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) which surprisingly misses out on a lot of equipment, including rear power windows! The midrange XM is available for Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom) with features including a 4-speaker Harman sound system, Harman infotainment system, ambient lighting, and a day/night IRVM. The XZ+ is the top variant which gets you all the bells and whistles, with features such as projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs, cooled glovebox, a Harman touchscreen infotainment system, driver seat height adjustment, auto-fold ORVMs, rear parking camera, rear defogger, push button start, and electric boot unlock. It also comes at a hefty price tag of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with a dual-tone XZ+ DT option also available for Rs 13.14 lakh (ex-showroom).
