Xiaomi EV has officially expanded its vehicle lineup with the new hybrid SkyNomad series. An intelligent large family SUV series designed around flexibility through its reconfigurable cabin. The SkyNomad puts the passenger experience and everyday usability at the centre of its design philosophy.

What is the SkyNomad

The SkyNomad is Xiaomi’s hybrid SUV designed from the ground up with a focus on making the cabin completely configurable. Making the car like a living room on wheels, the user can choose between being a parked lounge and being ready for a weekend trip through the long-rail seating and its completely flat floor. The 180-degree rotating seats help create a more social atmosphere in the cabin, similar to the Mercedes V-Class and Kia EV9.

Xiaomi SkyNomad engine & powertrain

Unlike its siblings, the SkyNomad is not going to be a purely electric vehicle and will instead feature a 1.5litre turbo-charged engine that will act as a generator for the 52kWh or 76kWh battery pack. The car is set to be an AWD with a dual electric motor configuration, with one at the front and rear axle. Xiaomi claims this configuration gives the SkyNomad an electric-only range of 464 to 505km and a combined range of up to 1,705km. The N90 is set to have a wheelbase of 3.1metres and an overall length of 5.3metres.

Xiaomi’s Vision

This shift in philosophy was guided by the fact that commute times are now longer, and users tend to use their car a lot more than ever before, making it essentially another home. Due to the Kunlun architecture and the long track seating, the cabin can transform into a workspace or a lounge.

SkyNomad exterior

The SkyNomad retains the traditional boxy, upright silhouette that is associated with SUVs, the front end sports “SKYNOMAD” lettering with slim horizontal LED headlamps on either side. The side profile is defined by the completely flat roofline that goes all the way to the rear, and is complemented by the electric doors and optional electric side steps. The car is available in three nature-inspired finishes: Mountain Green, Valley Blue, Volcanic Gray.

SkyNomad interior

The interior of the SkyNomad features a completely flat floor with long rail seating with 900mm of travel allowing the cabin to be configured on the fly. With over 34 storage compartments and a 9-litre refrigerator integrated into the centre console. Second row legroom stretches to 1,550 mm, and with the seats fully reclined the cabin converts into a flat bed. Maximum cargo capacity stands at 1,831 litres. The cabin is finished in OEKO-TEX certified materials meeting infant-grade safety standards, available in two colour options — Cream Beige and Mocha Brown.

Pricing and Availability

The Xiaomi SkyNomad is a product that’s limited to the Chinese domestic market and is unlikely to ever make it to Indian shores. In China, it is priced at ₹ 36.72 lakh and ₹ 42.37 lakh , for the N70 or N90 variant with deliveries expected in August.
