India’s sole Italian GT Championship 2025 contender, Mahaveer Raghunathan, basks in P1 glory in Race 2 at Monza, ending the season on a high for AF Corse

Mahaveer Raghunathan, the only Indian race driver competing in the Italian GT Championship, concluded Season 2025 with a triumphant win in Race 2 in the GT3 Pro-Am class. Ragunathan piloted team AF Corse’s Ferrari 296 GT3 alongside teammate Lorenzo Ferrari, taking team AF Corse to victory at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy. The team stands at an overall P6 and P2 in Pro-Am class as Season 2025 comes to a close.

Teammates Raghunathan and Ferrari had finished Race 1 in P2 Pro-Am class and secured P4 overall. However, the pair was demoted to P4 in their class due to a post-race penalty imposed for “early contact.” This lead to a deduction of valuable points for AF Corse. The team recovered the setback in Race 2 with clean and calculated overtakes and claimed first position in the race. Despite their comeback in the final race of the season, team AF Corse lost the Championship title just shy of four points to the winning team, Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (VSR).
Mahaveer Raghunathan reflected on his performance and said, “It feels great to end the season with a win at Monza. Race 1 was disappointing with the penalty without which we would have won the championship , but we came back strong in Race 2. The car felt fantastic, and the team did a great job. We started this year at the first race with a win at Vallelunga, and to end the season with a win in Monza shows we’ve been consistently fast all year. Even though we were the quickest, we missed winning the championship by just four points due to things outside our control. Overall, it’s been a strong and consistent season with AF Corse.”
Mahaveer Raghunathan has had a rather eventful year throughout the 2025 Italian GT Sprint Championship, with three wins in total — an overall win at Vallelunga, as well as victories at Imola and Monza in the Pro-AM class.
