Hero launches a new electric scooter, the Vida VX2 EVooter starting from ₹59,490

Hero launches its new EVooter (EV scooter) line with the Vida VX2 in order to make entry into the realm of EV ownership more accessible to Indian customers. There’s also a ‘Pay-per-Kilometre’ model which brings down the cost to as low as ₹0.96 per km, it is essentially a ‘Battery as a Service’ offer from Hero. These new EV scooters will come in two variants — VX2 Plus and VX2 Go along with a comprehensive warranty of five years or 50,000km. Hero has promised to provide a network of over 3,600 points and over 500 sales and service centres.
Hero Vida VX2 features, battery and range
The Vida VX2 range comes in seven colour finishes, a distinct face and silhouette that allows for long and well-cushioned seating for two passengers. It gets some first-in-class equipment such as a remote immobilizer and cloud connectivity aiding in ease of use and security. Other features include smartphone integration bringing real-time information such as ride stats, telemetry. It’ll also get over-the-air firmware updates. There are two types of instrument screens based on the variant. The VX2 Plus comes with a 4.3-inch TFT (clearer and more responsive) screen versus the VX2 Go which gets a 4.3-inch LCD screen; both of which support turn-by-turn navigation. It also boasts of having 12-inch wheels, favouring grip and stability; there’s a 33.2-litre boot which will comfortably fit a full-face helmet.
The Vida VX2 scooter range comes with a removable battery pack. The VX2 Plus variant gets 3.4kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 142km, whereas the VX2 Go variant is equipped with a 2.2kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 92km. These batteries support fast charging, with 80% of charge in 60 minutes. Customers will get a complimentary battery replacement if the performance drops below 70%. Subscribers of the ‘Pay-Per-Kilometre’ offer will get access to Vida’s fast charging network for the duration of the subscription.
Hero Vida VX2 variants and pricing
The two Vida VX2 variants, with the BaaS offer, are priced at VX2 Plus at ₹64,990 and VX2 Go at ₹59,490. Meanwhile, the prices without the BaaS offer are VX2 Plus at ₹1.09 lakh and VX2 Go at ₹99,490 (all prices are ex-showroom). These newly launched two-wheeled EVs will be rivaled by products such as Bajaj Chetak 3503 priced at ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), TVS iQUBE 3.5 priced at ₹1.23 lakh (ex-showroom) and Ather Rizta S 3.7 priced ₹1.38 lakh (ex-showroom).
