Citroen has launched the Citroen C3 Sport Edition in India
In a bid to inject life into stagnant sales, Citroen have unveiled a new variant of the entry-level C3 hatchback called Citroen C3 Sport Edition. The Citroen C3 Sport Edition is essentially a spruced up C3 with sport decals on the outside and ample garnishing on the inside.
The cosmetic changes include sportier pedals, custom seat covers, seat belt cushions, matching carpet mats and ambient lighting. These add a touch of flair and visual athleticism to the already quirky and bold French compact SUV. The C3 Sport Edition comes in a new color as well – Garnet Red – thereby reinforcing the fact that you are no longer looking at the ordinary C3.
Mechanically the Citroen C3 Sport Edition remains the same and that is by no means a bad thing. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol PureTech engine delivers 108.5bhp and 205Nm of torque. You get both the 6-speed torque converter automatic as well as a manual. The claimed 0-100kmph time is a respectable 10 seconds. The C3 Sport Edition is priced at a premium of ₹21,000 over the standard model. For those who value tech in their cars, Citroen have also included the option of a TechKit – basically a dashcam and wireless charger – for an extra ₹15,000.
Commenting on the new edition, Kumar Priyesh, business head and director of automotive brands at Stellantis India, said, “With the addition of Garnet Red and sporty enhancements (the C3 Sport Edition) caters to a distinct generation of buyers who value individuality, class-leading performance, unmatched comfort and everyday practicality – reinforcing to Citroën’s promise of accessible innovation and design led appeal.” Citroen says that there are limited units planned for the Sport Edition though there’s no confirmation on how many units this will be limited to or any specific time period that this version will be on sale for.
