Maruti Suzuki reveals BaaS price of the Delta variant of e Vitara ahead of the full price without the rental scheme
Maruti Suzuki's first EV, the e Vitara starts at ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental scheme. This price is only for the (base) Delta variant, equipped with a 49kWh LFP battery pack. Bookings are open for a sum of ₹21,000 from the Nexa dealerships and the full price of this Maruti Suzuki EV is expected to be disclosed soon.
Prospective customers also stand to avail various ownership benefits such as – assured buyback of up to 60 per cent after 3 years, free charging for a year and a complimentary home charger with installation. Additionally, the e Vitara is protected by an 8-year warranty that includes a 5-year battery warranty and a 3-year vehicle warranty.
The BaaS scheme is not a new concept as it was first employed by MG with its Windsor EV. In essence, the owner pays a certain and pre-determined sum of money on a monthly basis as a fee for the battery, this scheme aids in circumventing the burden of paying the full price of the EV in one-go. It is an incentive to make EV ownership more accessible and inviting for a broader spectrum of people by lessening the extent of upfront investment.

The 49kWh pack equipped variant puts out a max output of 142bhp and 193Nm of torque, whereas the larger 61kWh battery variant bumps up the power output to 172bhp with the same amount of torque.
Maruti Suzuki has ensured it has ample stopping power with inclusion of all-around disc brakes, and all variants get a set of 18-inch alloy wheels with aero covers to aid efficiency and range. It also has a suite of Level 2 ADAS features.
