Wraps are off the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Based on the recently unveiled facelifted S-Class, the Maybach version gets a similar facelift with updates to the styling, the interior, the engines and the tech on offer. And yes, it gets a lot of illuminated emblems. The Maybach S 680 will now be offered with only a V8 engine, with the V12 reserved only for select markets. The S 580 continues with a V8 while the S 580e brings a V6 hybrid in to the line-up

The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 gets a 20 per cent larger grille like the regular S-Class with an illuminated surround. The hood gets a chrome fin that runs through the centre of it. An illuminated Mercedes-Benz logo sits on the nose, while the Maybach word mark on top of the grille surround is also illuminated. The air intakes on the front bumper have the chrome Maybach emblems covering them. There are star-shaped DRLs in the headlights which are surrounded by rose-gold highlights and a lit up Maybach emblem in them. The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 is almost 5484mm long, with an additional 180mm added to the already lengthy long-wheelbase S-Class. The C-pillar also gets an illuminated Maybach logo. The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 gets 20-inch forged chrome alloy wheels, while a 21-inch wheel with golden finish can also be specified. On the dual-tone paint shades there is a pin-stripe that runs the length of the car from the factory.

The Night Series will be available with paint finishes in black, grey or white. It will also now get a new paint finish called Nautic Blue Metallic. This new paint comes paired with an interior that gets mother of pearl inlays and gold piping – really amping up the luxury quotient of the Maybach.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class interior

The interior of the Maybach S 680 gets a big update. The dash is now a Superscreen, just like it is on the S-Class. This means it has a floating 12.3-inch instrument cluster, along with a large 14.4-inch infotainment screen, and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. The centre console has gotten a mild update, now featuring two wireless phone chargers instead of one. The new MBUX system now comes integrated with ChatGPT, Bing and Gemini.

The rear remains lavish with its two-seat layout and generous centre console – replete with champagne flute holders, a wireless phone charger and a control centre for the car. As before, the Maybach gets automatic doors that shut at the touch of a button. There is no gesture control to shut the door, but you can use voice commands. Interestingly, Maybach is offering a leather-free interior for the first time as well.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class engine

The Maybach lineup has done away with the V12 engine that used to come in the Mercedes-Maybach S 680, except for in select markets. Both the S 580 and S 680 get the same M177 4-litre V8 but in different states of tune. Mercedes-Benz has worked on the M177 engine and are now calling it the M177 Evo. The V8 engine now produces 603bhp and 850Nm of power for the Mercedes-Maybach S 680. The engine is now paired with a mild hybrid system that gives an additional 203Nm and 22bhp. The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 now accelerates from 0-100kmph in 4secs and has a top speed of 250kmph, and claims that power and response are “on par with the current V12 unit”.

The Maybach S 580 continues with the V8. It is more powerful than before and makes 529bhp

The plug-in hybrid S 580e features the M256 Evo V6 engine. The claim is that it can do 100km on all-electric range, while it is more powerful than before as well.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class pricing

With over 150 paint options and 400 interior colours, Maybachs are infinitely personalisable. Which also means the base price doesn’t tell the full story. Prices for the pre-facelift CKD Maybach S 580 sit at ₹2.74 crore, while the CBU Maybach S 680 sits at ₹3.67 crore (ex-showroom). Expect the prices to get a healthy bump when the facelift launches in the Indian market.
